Persian chinchilla

Breed description

History of the breed

The first representatives appeared at the end of the last century. It is still unclear why this breed received such a name. The first representatives of chinchillas were a bit darker and more like today's silvery shaded Persians. The ancestors of chinchillas were Persian marble cats. It is believed that the cat, which was bred in 1885 as a result of crossing a smoky cat and a silvery marble cat, was the first chinchilla.

For the first time in London in 1885, a Persian chinchilla was seen at the exhibition, which was called a silver lamb. He simply amazed everyone with his beauty and when he died, he was made from a scarecrow that is still in the British Museum.

Chinchillas, who live in Australia and Europe, are refined and elegant, and representatives of this breed from the US are more similar to Persian cats and are larger. But, despite the refinement, Persian chinchillas are strong and hardy cats. They often appear on the pages of magazines.

Character
