Salacgriva - tourist attractions

Salacgriva is a small town in the Salacgriva region of Latvia with a population of about three thousand people. Status of the city was received in 1928. Located this provincial town on the coast of the Gulf of Riga at the mouth of the Salaca River. Despite its small size, there are many interesting cultural and natural attractions.

  3. In the annals there is a mention of the castle of Salis , which was erected by order of the Bishop of Riga, Albert. Due to circumstances unknown to archaeologists, the castle has not survived to this day. Scientists believe that his remains are nothing but a local old estate.

Sights of Wetzsalaca

  3. "Kuivizi" is a yacht club in which a sailing museum was opened on June 18, 2011. The collection has absorbed historical exhibits, which can be traced to the development of sailing in Latvia. Here are presented awards, diplomas and medals from the personal archive of the famous athlete Eugene Cannes (1907-1986). He devoted his whole life to sailing and won an incredible number of awards. The athlete was a sixteen-time champion of the Soviet Union. Since 2008, the Salacgriva Yacht Club Kuivizi has been organizing an international competition of architecture, design and yachts - "Baltic Breeze". The main event is the regatta for the mayor Salacgriva Cup, in which designers and architects of yachts and, of course, yachtsmen participate.
  4. Next to Salacgriva, there is the Randu Plavas Nature Reserve , in which a large number of different trees and shrubs are represented. The air of the reserve is truly fabulous, it absorbed the salinity of the sea and the fragrance of the forest.
