The key to successful growing of vegetable crops is quality seed, in particular, seedlings. Unfortunately, frequent deceptions in the markets make truck farmers engaged in growing seedlings on their own, and not without success. Yes, and numerous developments and methods are now available for the amateur hands of landlords and land owners. In addition, there are many interesting methods of cultivation. Growing seedlings in "diapers"
An unusual method allows you to grow beautiful seedlings with a minimum amount of soil and water. Initially, this method was used with tomato seeds, and then successfully passed with cucumbers , cabbage and even peppers. One of the first to use this method was Galina Kizima.
The meaning of the method is that the seeds are immersed in small clumps of moist soil, and the soil itself is wrapped in pieces of oilcloth, which in the method is called diapers. Some gardeners use not a primer, but thin paper (napkins or toilet paper). The main thing is that the "soil" is moist, and the oilcloth "diapers" will not let the moisture evaporate. Diapers with seeds are installed vertically on the windowsill. Over time, the first shoots will appear.
Features of planting seedlings in diapers without soil
The main difficulty for those who master this method is how to make "diapers" for seedlings. It can be any film, even an ordinary package, but many recommend using that dense film that has remained from the hiding of the greenhouse.
We describe the method without the use of soil. The glue is cut into long rectangular pieces about 10 cm wide. A napkin or a sheet of toilet paper is placed on top. The paper is sprayed with water, after which seeds are laid out at a distance of 1-1.5 cm. Then the seeds are covered with a strip of paper, and then with a rectangle of oilcloth. The resulting "sandwich" must be carefully rolled into a roll and installed in a regular plastic cup. At the bottom of the tank, pour water in such a way that the bottom of the paper was at least 1.5 cm in it. Glasses with seeds are placed at a warm place, and then covered with a conventional package, in which several small apertures are made for airing. When the seeds germinate, they are fed with liquid fertilizer. The second time bait is needed when the seedlings have the first real leaf.
Features of planting seedlings in diapers with soil
Instead of paper for germination of seeds, the soil is used. It is cut from a film of "diaper" in the size in a notebook sheet. In the middle of the diaper, one tablespoon of soil is applied. In the center of the hill you need to make a small depression, where the seed is placed. Then the "diaper" is rolled up with a roll. All rolls with seeds are spread in a container, for example, a plastic box from the herring. Water is poured onto the bottom of the container, and it is covered with food film.

We plant seedlings in "diapers" of the same size, but we put two or three spoons of soil, so that the rooting roots have where to settle. "Diapers" are rolled up again in the form of a roll or so that a pouch with a bottom is formed. In the first case, water is poured into a container, where "diapers" are stacked with seedlings. In the second, young plants are sprayed or gently poured.
