Stand for knives with your own hands

Have once again cut a finger, trying to get a knife from the box in the kitchen table? Do not you want to organize for yourself and family members a more convenient and safe place for storing knives? In this master class we will tell you how to make a stand for knives.

Fast and convenient!

If you have a small but deep wooden box, fill it tightly with bamboo sticks. The knives stuck between them will stay strong.

No box? Make it yourself from four identical sized planks and one smaller size. This knife holder, made by hand, is also filled with bamboo or plastic sticks.

There is no easier way to make a knife holder yourself than using a magnet. For this, on the back of any wooden plank, the shape and size of which you like, make a shallow groove. Lubricate it abundantly with glue and insert several magnets of neodymium into the groove. Your kitchen assistants on such an original homemade knife stand will hold fast!

For many years

If the house or workshop has carpentry equipment, then you can make a stand that will last for more than one year. To do this, you need wooden boards, electrical tape, glue.

  1. Cut out eight pieces of the same size. In this block you can store seven knives. If you have more, add one to the number of knives - so much detail you will need. Then cut out two side pieces with a curved edge (side parts of the stand).
  2. On each of the eight parts, make an even groove, which should be wider than the blade of the largest knife by 3-4 millimeters. Collect the parts to make sure that all the grooves are aligned.
  3. On each part, seal the tape on both sides of the grooves, and glue the edges with glue. Then remove the electrical tape and quickly glue the two parts together. Similarly, glue the entire stand. Using chips, make sure that the glue does not leak into the grooves.
  4. Sand the stand so that all surfaces are smooth. Now cut out the handle. It will be convenient to store scissors here.

It remains to screw the handle to the stand, using a screwdriver, and then open with a varnish, and the product is ready!

If the color and texture of natural wood is not to your liking, the knife stands can be decorated by making a decoupage , or painted in the right color.
