Decorating walls with plaster with their own hands is a great way to give the room an unusual appearance, because this option is not used so often. Treated in such a cut surface in the future can be washed, and its strength, it exceeds even the paint, and, especially, wallpaper. Decorative plaster is a special mixture designed for finishing interior of a house or apartment. It can have a different texture and its appearance to imitate other materials: sand, stone, wood. Using this method of finishing the room, the master gives it an individuality, because with this composition it is possible to carry out various coatings: it can be even walls, evenly processed along the whole width and height, places where the method of coating differs from the finishing of other walls or even molded from plaster small relief figures, for example, flowers. Today we will consider the simplest way of finishing the walls with plaster with our own hands using a composition that imitates a tree .

Materials and preparatory work

For the decoration of the walls we will need: the mixture itself for textured plaster; priming of deep penetration, sold with it, wax for finishing the walls; plastic spatula; rollers: textured and with medium pile.

As preparation for the finishing finish, you must carefully level the surface of all the walls. Although the texture of the material for finishing and can hide minor flaws, large irregularities can only become even more noticeable.

  1. We put a special primer on the wall and let it dry thoroughly (usually it takes 6-8 hours). When the first layer dries, you need to repeat the treatment again.
  2. We paint the composition for the textured plaster with the color of the color that we chose as a shade for the walls. After we painted the mixture, it can be used for two days. We begin to apply the plaster on the wall with a textured roller. And it should be borne in mind that the larger its grain - the more vivid and expressive it will look an invoice on the wall.
  3. If a person works alone, it is most convenient to carry out plastering with pieces of about 1.5 to 2 m in size. It is necessary to apply the plaster chaotically, the movements can be carried out in different directions. It is necessary to process each section until there are no gaps in the wall. Each machined part must necessarily have equal edges, since flat lines will be visible on a completely finished surface.
  4. Now you need to level the resulting surface. For this, the whole wall is worked through with a plastic spatula from the top to the bottom. Removed the surplus composition. After the wall is left to dry.
  5. Decorative plaster dries about a day. Do not leave the wall too exposed for too long, as it can dry out.
  6. We apply a special wax on an acrylic basis with a medium-pile roller. It will fix the coating and make it more resistant to external influences. After treating the wall with wax, the color of the coating will become brighter and more saturated (Plaster of the walls with your own hands 6).
  7. After drying the wax (this process takes about 48 hours), the surface can be further polished with woolen cloth for greater gloss.
  8. After two weeks, the plaster dries completely and is fixed to the wall, and the surface can be safely cleaned using water and soap.
