The beauty of architecture, red tiled roofs, gas lights and an extraordinary atmosphere. It is not hard to guess that this is the capital of the Czech Republic . One of the most popular attractions in Prague is the Tyn Church, a photo against which is considered an indispensable attribute of a tourist trip to these places.
What is interesting for tourists?
Tyn Church, the same Church of the Virgin Mary before Tyn - quite a notable building in Prague . His black spiers with golden balls look like royal crowns on the background of the red tile roofs of other houses. It is this fundamental and majestic temple that conquers its contemplatives.
The construction of the church began in the XIV century, but it could not be completed until 1511. Very quickly, he gained the status of the spiritual center of the Old City . The temple is located in the historical center, on the Old Town Square .
The building is designed in the Baroque style, holding the gaze of passers-by with strict gothic beauty. In the external appearance, the elements of the baroque and the early Baroque era are also guessed. The two towers are 80 meters high, so you can view them from anywhere in the historical center of Prague. It is interesting that they are not symmetrical: first, they were erected at different times, and secondly, such a feature is inherent in Gothic architecture.
Tyn Church inside
The interior decoration of the temple is harmoniously combined with the exterior. At the same time, going through the massive doors of the Church of the Virgin Mary before Tyn, you understand that finishing is not the thing that will stir up a sense of excitement. After all, inside the tourists are revealed real treasures:
- 19 richly decorated with gold altars;
- 14 large paintings by artist F. Tchermak;
- shops in the Gothic style;
- stone chair in the Gothic style, the manufacture of which falls on the 15th century;
- a tin font with the faces of 12 apostles, whose age is over six hundred years;
- paintings by K. Shkrety "Ascension of the Virgin Mary" and "Trinity", crowning the main altar;
- stone canopy of 1493 by M. Reisek;
- a fresco with St. Jerome from the 16th century;
- An ancient organ, created in 1673 by the hands of Mund.
In addition, there are over six dozen graves in the church. What is characteristic is that they are people both known and representatives of the lower classes.
How to get to Tyn Church?
You can come here by bus number 207 to the stop Náměstí Republiky, or by trams Nos. 2, 17, 18, 93 to the station Staroměstská.
