Bertramka

Bertramka is the name of a villa in Prague . She became famous thanks to Wolfgang Mozart, who lived there for a while. Today in this house there is a museum devoted to the great composer and the owners of the house, who also contributed to the musical art.

Description

The farmstead was built in the middle of the XVII century. The first owner was a Czech brewer, and in the middle of the 18th century the villa was purchased by the Bertram family. Her husband was a Czech composer, and his wife was an opera singer. They significantly changed the villa, completely rebuilt the mansion. The new house became a vivid example of classicism. The site has also undergone some changes. The manor was given the name in honor of the name of the owners, who breathed new life into it.

Until now, Bertramka has been preserved in the form in which it was sold to the Czech composer FrantiĊĦek Dushek in 1784. He was a close friend of Mozart. Therefore, when Wolfgang decided to spend some time in Prague, he was invited to stay in a cozy rich estate.

This place inspired the composer so much that he managed to finish work on the opera "Don Giovanni". In 1929, the villa was bought by the Mozart Society, which founded an exhibition dedicated to the composer and his friends. In the 60s of the last century, Villa Bertramka in Prague was awarded the status of a monument of architecture.

Exposition of the museum

The collection of the Mozart Museum in Prague occupies 7 exhibition halls, each of which has its own character. Moving from one room to another, visitors seem to travel in time. For example, in one of the rooms the time was restored, when Mozart lived here.

Workers of the museum tried, as far as possible, to maintain the laid-back atmosphere that prevailed here at Dushek. For this purpose, the exposition was practically completely deprived of glass stands and shop windows. The halls are furnished with furniture, carpets lie on the floor, and the walls are covered with expensive cloth. In the museum you will see many interesting historical documents that relate to the life and work of the famous composer:

The pride of the museum collection and at the same time a real treasure for Mozart's admirers is the musical instrument of the composer and his 13 hair.

How to get there?

You can get to Villa Bertramka by coming here by public transport in Prague. Nearby there is a bus stop, which carries the same name as the attraction itself. The museum is located on Mozart Street next to the city park Mrazovka.
