The Kingdom of Railways is a large operating mock-up of the Czech Republic in Prague with trains, buses, cars, people, houses, stations and nature . It causes delight not only in children, but also in adults. Here you can view the movement of rail transport throughout the country, popular Czech attractions in miniature, major cities and rural life.
The device layout in the Kingdom of Railways
The mock-up was built gradually, starting in 2009, the region beyond the region, and it did not fully work until the end of 2014. All the miniatures in it are detailed, many are made interactive. By clicking the buttons on the layout, visitors can revitalize the figures of people or animals. So, for example, a farmer's hens begin to peck the grains.
The light features are completely met, the sun rises and sets, darkens at night, lights are lit, lights in houses, headlights by cars. The machines themselves are supplemented with special sensors. They stop at traffic lights and pass each other at a meeting, not allowing accidents.
The most important place here, of course, is reserved for the railway. The trains, freight and passenger trains travel all over the country, stopping at small stations and large train stations. In the first car special cameras are mounted, so that visitors can look at the microcosm from the inside, as if from the window of a moving train.
Models of regions
Each city, region and region in the Kingdom has its own characteristics:
- Prague is a model of the city with all the sights, moving trains and trams. A miniature city is built 165 meters of tracks, along which 7 trains travel. It is interesting to see in miniature the Prague Castle , the TV tower , the Dancing House , Vyšehrad , the Staropramen plant and other landmarks of the capital.
- The central region is famous for its castles reproduced here with high accuracy. 14 trains pass past the famous castles of Karlstejn , Kokorjin and Křivoklát , as well as a factory producing famous Czech cars Škoda .
- Karlovy Vary Region - 50 square meters. m, 120 m rails, 9 trains and the famous thermal resort , which is presented on the layout during the film festival. The Karlovy Vary colonnade, Mariánské Lázně , healing springs and the famous spa town hotels are presented on the mock-up.
- The Pilsen region - the region with the most popular beer factory in miniature shows the life of rural provinces. The main areas here are occupied by forest. Of interesting buildings - the city of Pilsen itself , the famous plant, the castle of the Motherland and the Dobrzhikiv Viaduct.
- Ustetsky Krai - the first model, which appeared in 2009, originally occupied only about 100 square meters. m.
Exhibitions in the Kingdom of the Railways of Prague
In addition to the main space occupied by the layout, in the Kingdom are interactive exhibitions that tell about:
- The creation and development of the Czech railways , starting from simple carts moving on rails, and to this day. Here you will learn about new high-speed trains, with the advent of which to travel around the Czech Republic has become more convenient and faster.
- About all who work on the railroad - from the machinists to the switchmen. What knowledge and skills will be required for this work, how much it is interesting and who is more suitable. This exhibition is very popular with children, they gladly try on different railway specialties.
- Old Prague . Master Rudolf Ship, made from paper more than 3000 models of ancient houses, towers, churches, churches and synagogues. His mock-up recreates the view of the city in the 19th century. To create all the houses the artist took 12 years.
- A small cinema is opened in a separate room, in which documentaries about the creation and development of rail transport are shown.
Kingdom for children
For each child, an excursion to the Kingdom is like a real fairy tale. Moving trains, lights, night lights, miniature people and cars - all this leads children to delight. There are many more entertainments:
- an interactive construction of the famous designer. Houses, roads, bridges, cars, trains, construction equipment are built of cubes. Many of them are connected to the control panel, and the child can drive cars, excavators, trains;
- one more designer for children from the American firm K'NEX represents a section with dinosaurs and moving robots;
- locomotive Thomas from a popular cartoon rides with friends on wooden rails;
- a separate play room is created in which children like the tram car with the cab, where you can press the buttons, ring and switch the levers.
How to get to the Kingdom of the Railways in Prague?
The museum is located in the center of the capital, in the Smichov area, near the Vltava embankment. You can get to the Kingdom in many ways:
- by car, leaving it on the parking lot located nearby the shopping center Novy Smichov;
- on the metro , stop Anděl, further 150 m on foot;
