Staropramen

History of the brewery

"Started" Staropramen since 1869, when the brewery Pivovar Staropramen was founded. The first batch of beer was produced in 1871, and in 1911 the Staropramen trademark was officially registered (in translation - "old source"). Gradually the plant was modernized and expanded, without any difficulties, survived world wars and political cataclysms, reunification and disintegration of the country. In 1996, the brewery received the latest technical equipment, and since 2012 it belongs to the company MolsonCoors. Despite all the changes, the Prajans claim that the taste of Staropramen beer does not change at all: its main "highlight" was and remains a characteristic bitter bitterness.

Today Staropramen beer is exported to 36 countries of the world, and few people have not heard its name.

Tour of the Staropramen brewery in Prague

The first thing to note is that the tour does not take place by the plant itself, but by a separate "tourist" zone, which unites the elements of the factory and the museum. Here you can:

  3. Wheat unfiltered.
  4. Exclusive red pomegranate.

In addition, you can order imported beers and enjoy traditional Czech cuisine . This institution serves cold and hot snacks, and the most favorite among tourists is the famous "baked Veprvo knee". The restaurant has a pronounced tourist orientation: the prices here are higher than in other institutions of Prague of the same level, and the service is at an altitude. Here you can buy old symbols: beer mugs, glasses, collectible stands for them.

Features of visit

You can visit Staropramen brewery in Prague both with an organized excursion and on your own. In the first case, all organizational issues, as a rule, take on a travel agency or private guide, and in the second tourist will have to learn the information yourself. The following information will help in this:

  1. Working hours: daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Russian-language tours are held daily, except Saturday, beginning at 11:30.
  2. The cost of the tour: basic, preferential (students and pensioners) and family tickets will cost respectively 199 CZK ($ 9.22), 169 ($ 7.83) or 449 (20.81).
  3. Experienced tourists note that it is better to come here on their own, as the excursion is carried out in an autonomous mode, using modern interactive screens, holograms and electronic guides.
  4. Duration of the tour: about 1 hour.

Interesting fact

The history of Prague is inextricably linked with Staropramen. This is evidenced by the fact that every year, in mid-June, the city celebrates the Staropramen Beer Festival . In the Smichov area, the street Svornosti is blocked, where the celebration takes place: beer contests are held, beer, ale, traditional snacks are sold. The entrance to the territory is paid.

Staropramen brewery also participates in the Czech beer festival, which has been held since 2008 in the Letnany Exhibition Center.

The plant is located in the heart of the capital. The easiest way for tourists to take the metro : Andel Station on the yellow branch is 5 minutes walk from Pivovarska Street. Also here you can get on trams Nos. 7, 14, 12, 54, 20, the stop is called Na Knížecí.
