What is interesting about the Wolf Stream Arboretum?

Such a name as "Wolf Stream" appeared due to the fact that in the area often saw flocks of wolves that came to the forest along a short walk from the park. The first plantings of trees were planted by Sovan the First, who purchased a palace in this territory and ennobled his garden on the estate. Then his son Leon supported the idea of the father and cared for the garden, he even expanded the park, planting its territory with different plants, including exotic ones. He also worried about the order on the lakes that were nearby.

Leon removed the wall that protected the palace, and created a fence of living plants. During the Second World War, nothing remained of the palace, it was burned by partisans. In 1999, the arboretum "Wolf Stream" was awarded the status of a monument of cultural significance in Slovenia.

Tourists say that it is in the spring that one should go here for impressions, because the reserve is literally covered with a colorful carpet of flowers. The most fascinating colors are tulips. Annually about 2 million flowers bloom in the Botanical Garden, they are represented in 250 varieties. In the garden is also represented sakura, you can admire orchids, cacti and roses.

In the Botanical Garden, there are also various exhibitions devoted to the Jurassic dinosaurs or the Giants of the Sea Depths, in these expositions one can see creatures in their natural sizes.

In the arboretum you can admire the lakes and their inhabitants. Here you can meet ducks, turtles and many species of fish. There is a lot of lifestyles in the lakes, but there is a ban on catching fish. On the whole area of the Wolf Stream you can see not only herbaceous plants, but also shrub and tree species, very picturesque looking maple trees among the green landscape.
