In winter, the Great Plan does not seem empty, many skiers come here.

Tourists go to the mountains not only for the beautiful scenery, but also to explore several attractions of this area:

  1. The first of these will be a shepherd's settlement, where the color of similar settlements is preserved. All year round in this area you can see the huts in which the entire herd of shepherds is transferred, starting from the 15th century. The shepherd's village is recognized as the only such architectural landmark in Europe, it has already become a visiting card of the Great Planet. After the Second World War, a revival occurred on this territory, the dwellings continued to cost in their original form. They have an unusual architecture, the roofs are covered with 3-layer pine tiles, and descend almost to the ground. Many architects believe that this is an excellent solution for these weather conditions. Summer time is considered the most suitable for visiting this area, because here come shepherds with their herds. They graze them on green pastures until the end of September. In shepherds' huts there is neither electricity nor water, but the inhabitants have adapted and equipped solar panels for themselves, and the water is extracted from springs or rainwater. After meeting with a local shepherd, he can invite a tourist to his house and offer him a dish of milk or, so-called "shepherd's lunch", which consists of sour milk and porridge.
  2. Another attraction that is in this area is the Chapel of the Snowy Mary . It was built here before the Second World War, but at the end of the war, German soldiers completely destroyed it. In 1988, on the initiative of the shepherds, it was completely restored. Every Sunday in the chapel of the Snow Mary there is a divine service, and on Christmas day they come here from all of Slovenia to participate in the mass at night.
