What does the hymen look like?

Of course, each of us understands perfectly what we are talking about when we hear the concept of "hymen". Meanwhile, few people imagine what it looks like, and what features of development of the hymen can be found in young girls.

The hymen, or hymen, is a thin septum that separates the outer and inner genitalia of a woman. It is believed that hymen is found in all young girls who do not yet live sexually, but in fact, about 25% of it is absent from birth. Also, most people admit a very common mistake, believing that during the first sexual intercourse the hymen is always torn, and the girl experiences severe pain. In contrast, there are only a small number of vessels in the hymen, which contract very well, so that the rupture of the hymen during sex is accompanied by mild pain. Some girls note only a slight discomfort. In addition, not always deprivation of virginity necessarily causes the break of the hymen - sometimes it is so stretched that it persists in a woman until the first birth.

In this article, we will try to understand where the woman's hymen is and how it looks, and also what anomalies in the development of this organ are found in girls.

Where is the hymen?

Hymen is located just before the entrance to the vagina, between the urethra and the perineum. In rare cases, the hymen can be immersed in the vagina at a distance of up to 1 centimeter, and also be located on the same level with the skin area between the vagina and the opening of the rectum.

What does the virgin's spit look like?

Usually the hymen of a young girl who has never had sexual intercourse looks like a thin film with a small hole in the middle. Meanwhile, there may be several holes in the structure of this organ, and, in addition, they can take absolutely any form, so there is no clear answer to the question of how the hymen should look.

The hole in the hymen can be annular, crescent, and semilunar. In addition, the hole may have a septum. In rare cases, the hymen resembles a sieve, because it has a huge number of tiny holes.

The edges of the holes can also be any - even and smooth, and wavy in the form of fringe or petals. The size of the hole is usually from 1 mm to 4 cm, which also indicates a huge number of different variations of the structure of the hymen.

On the contrary, the absence of any hole in the hymen is considered a serious anomaly of development of the female genitalia and is called congenital atresia of the hymen. Most often, this condition is accompanied by various vices of the female's internal genitalia. Usually such a spit is removed surgically.

How does the hymen look after the rupture?

In most cases, the hymen is instantly broken when a female penis is inserted into the vagina. This is due to the fact that the penis is much wider than the hole of the hymen in width.

In this situation, the vessels of the hymen begin to bleed slightly, and after healing at the edges of the entrance to the vagina from the hymen remain small scraps, or, as they are called, scraps. If the defloration is accompanied by a severe trauma of the hymen or vagina, as, for example, when raping, rags can begin to fuse again and, in the absence of sexual contacts, the hymen is restored.
