Which linoleum is better for home?

Linoleum can be of several types: natural , PVC, alkyd, rubber and colloxylin.

Natural linoleum is made from natural materials, such as wood flour, wood tar, linseed oil, limestone flour, cork bark. This mixture is uniformly applied to the jute fabric. This coating differs excellent thermal insulation, sound absorption, antistatic and bactericidal properties. It is worth more than other species, besides it has a small color range. The choice of such coverage is advisable if the house has small children or people with asthma.

Polyvinylchloride linoleum (PVC) is available in three subspecies - household, semi-commercial and commercial. The latter has a high degree of durability, at home it can be used in hallways and other premises with high traffic. Semi-commercial linoleum is also durable for wear, it is better to lay in living rooms and kitchens. Household linoleum is suitable for bedrooms or when preparing an apartment for sale or renting.

Alkyd Linoleum is affordable, absorbs sounds well and retains heat, but is excessively sensitive to cold and fragile, it easily shows cracks and breaks.

Rubber linoleum is made from bitumen and synthetic rubber. It has good moisture resistance and elasticity. However, in residential premises it is better not to use it because of harmful vapors of bitumen. It is more suitable for garage and other subsidiary buildings.

Colloxylin linoleum is produced on the basis of nitrocellulose. It has a beautiful luster and elastic structure. However, it is prone to shrinkage and does not tolerate temperature changes.
