White feces - a sign of what the child?

If a young mother suddenly discovers that the child has a white stool, this in most cases causes severe anxiety and serious fears. In this article we will tell you, a sign of what can be white feces in a child, and in what cases it is necessary to immediately consult a doctor.

Why does the child have white feces?

First of all, it is worth noting that in infants up to a year this phenomenon is extremely rare. Cal at such kids can brighten for various reasons, but in most cases it retains a beige color. As a rule, such changes occur when a new mixture or other products are introduced into the lure of the baby, as well as due to intestinal dysbacteriosis. In addition, in some children, feces can brighten during teething.

In older children, strong fecal clarification, up to white, can indicate the following diseases:

  1. Hepatitis. This severe illness is almost always accompanied by other symptoms, such as significant darkening of the urine, nausea and vomiting, fever, general weakness, lethargy, drowsiness and so on.
  2. With flu or rotavirus infection, the feces become very light a few days after the onset of the disease or immediately after recovery.
  3. Quite often the cause of this phenomenon is stagnation of bile or inflammation of the pancreas. In this case, the lightening of the stool is always accompanied by a pain in the abdomen, which can irradiate into the lower back.
  4. Finally, an extremely rare white feces in a child indicates a disease such as Whipple's disease. With this pathology, bowel movements occur up to 10-12 times and at the same time have a very light color and a sharp unpleasant odor.

Also in older children, as in babies, white feces may be associated with inaccuracies in feeding or taking certain medications. If this symptom in your child is accompanied by other symptoms that together may indicate a serious medical condition, consult a doctor immediately. If the white stool does not bother the baby in any way, try to reconsider his diet and wait a while, perhaps the situation will normalize by itself.
