In modern society, it is rare to find a person in a national costume, however, despite this traditional clothing of each people and ethnic groups is still part of the material culture. And it is at the same time a vivid embodiment of historically formed religious beliefs, spiritual values, climatic features, economic order. The traditional clothing of Yakutia acquired its characteristic features and peculiarities in the 10th century, already at that time the population used different materials and colors, different fur, different elements of decoration. Suits were sewed from cloth, jacquard silk, leather, rovduga. Decorated with ornamental inserts, embroidery, beads, pendants. Most such coloring was present in the top national clothes of Yakutia.

Of course, many features of the costume were conditioned by the polar climate and the main activity - herd cattle breeding and cattle breeding. Therefore, most of the clothes, especially the poor estates, were made of leather, suede. To warm the outfit, fur strips were sewn. Imported silks and woolen fabrics were used as finishing, only rich people could afford them.

Women's national clothes of Yakutia

Everyday women's Yakut national clothes differed from men only in the presence of decor, in which quality strips of cut leather, beaded and fur bands were used. Basically, these are straight cut products, due to the size and shape of the material.

The situation with festive Yakut national clothes was different: women's and men's suits at that time had a more complicated cut, with assemblies on their sleeves and flared downwards. Particular attention was paid to decorating the festive attire.
