15 deceptive cinematic cliches that do not work in real life

Films seem realistic, and all because of careful elaboration of every detail, but in fact many situations on the screen are fictitious, and it is simply impossible to repeat them in real life.

To get a beautiful picture, directors often have to embellish reality, creating in the minds of viewers false ideas about many things. We suggest conducting a small investigation and finding the most common deceptive cliches.

1. Muffler for shooting

Plot: to remove a person from the movie and not attract the attention of others, often use a pistol with a silencer.

Reality: Studies have shown that when shooting a conventional pistol, the noise level will be about 140-160 dB. When using a muffler, the indicators are reduced to 120-130 dB, and this is like when a jackhammer is working, unexpectedly, right? In fact, the silencer is used to protect the ear from the arrow, and not completely hide the noise of the shot.

2. A blow on the head without consequences

The plot: one of the most common ways to render harmless for a while a person, whether a maniac or a thief - to hit him on the head with a heavy object, such as a vase, candlestick and so on. In most cases, the deafened hero after a short time comes to his senses and feels quite normal.

Reality: Doctors say that hitting a heavy object on the head can cause serious concussion, irreversible brain injury and even death.

3. Instantaneous action of chloroform

Plot: The most common way to neutralize a person, which, for example, you need to steal is to attach a handkerchief moistened with chloroform to his face. Just a few seconds - and the victim is already unconscious.

Reality: Scientists claim that a person will begin to lose consciousness after inhaling pure chloroform for five minutes, and in order to preserve its effect, the victim must constantly inhale it, otherwise the effect will pass. To accelerate the impact, you need to use a cocktail, mixing chloroform with alcohol or diazepam, but here it can be a mistake, because in most cases a person after inhaling such a mixture does not lose the creature, but begins to experience attacks of nausea.

4. Safe jump from the roof

Plot: if a person is on the roof and needs to hide from the pursuit, then, according to cinematic traditions, he will necessarily jump down into the bushes or into tanks filled with garbage. Ends with a small bruise and no more.

Reality: as they say, "do not repeat this in real life." Falling from the height even into garbage will cause serious injury, and in some situations - death.

5. Free immersion in the lava

Plot: The hero, usually from the dark side, dies as a result of a complete immersion in the lava. Directors use such a trick to achieve greater entertainment and tragedy.

Reality: Scientists have long proven that the lava is three times heavier and denser than water, so a light immersion of the body, shown on the screens - is unrealistic. In addition, when in contact with air, lava starts to cool quickly and becomes firm, which also makes it difficult for the body to sink. If a person from the height jumps directly into the vent of the volcano, then, most likely, it will stick to the surface of the lava and will burn under the influence of high temperature.

6. Visible laser beams

Plot: in the movies about the theft of heroes often have to overcome rooms filled with laser beams. Showing the wonders of flexibility and dexterity, and seeing the rays, in most cases they achieve success.

Reality: in fact, human eyes are unable to see the laser beams, and they can be noticed only when they are reflected from an object. It is impossible to see the laser beams in space.

7. Heroes of the bomb do not care

Plot: in action movies you can often see how the heroes who did not have time to neutralize the bomb begin to escape from the place of the explosion and make a jump from a height, for example, into the water, wanting to stay alive.

Reality: if you focus on the laws of physics, it is clear that such salvation is impossible, because a person can not move faster than the speed of sound. Do not forget about the deadly fragments that will fly off at a huge speed.

8. Piranha the Assassin

Plot: There are many horror films about piranhas, which in a short period of time eat people caught in the water. From the information that the viewer is given to the cinema, one can come to the conclusion that in a couple of seconds a flock of piranhas can overcome an elephant.

Reality: in fact, all this is a myth, and piranhas are cowardly fishes that, seeing people, do not attack, but hide. In history, there is no real evidence that these toothed fish have caused human death. In this case, there are many photos and videos on which a person quietly swims among piranhas. In fact, they are dangerous only for fish, which are smaller in size.

9. Leap into the closed window

Plot: A common cliche for militants is a jump into a closed window, for example, during a chase. As a result, the hero easily breaks the glass and continues his movement without serious injury, with a maximum of several scratches.

Reality: if in the usual life to repeat such a chip, it will end with a hospital bed. The thing is that a glass thickness of even 6 mm leads to serious injuries. In films, however, fragile glass is used, which is made from sugar. Splitting it down very easily and deep cuts can not be feared.

10. The rescue defibrillator

Plot: if a person's heart stops in the film, then to use it again they often use a defibrillator, which is applied to the chest. As a result of the discharge, the heart starts again, and the person gets another chance at life.

Reality: if such a situation occurs in reality, the defibrillator will not be able to "start the heart", but it can burn. This device in medicine is used in situations where there is a malfunction of the heart rate, and the ventricles begin to contract at the same time. As a result, the defibrillator performs some "reset".

11. The human body as a shield

The plot: in the action movie in the shootout, the hero, in order to get to the nearest shelter, is covered by the body of the enemy, into which all the bullets fall.

Reality: this kind of practice would lead to either injury or death, since in most cases bullets, falling into the human body, pass through it, so hiding behind it is stupid.

12. Flight with the speed of light

The plot: in fantastic films on starships, heroes conquer space, moving at the speed of light and even faster.

Reality: different variants of hyperdrive is a fiction of writers, which has nothing to do with real life. For high-speed movement, a "wormhole" could be used, but there would not be such a beautiful view outside the window and the stars would stretch into almost invisible horizontal bands.

13. Saving ventilation systems

Plot: when the hero of the film is in a desperate situation, he needs to get somewhere, or, on the contrary, get out, then he chooses the ventilation shafts for this. As a result, you can move around the building and remain unnoticed.

Reality: in life, no one will dare to escape in this way, and there are several reasons for this. The most important explanation for the absurdity of this idea is that ventilation systems are not designed for the composition and weight of an adult. If, however, they managed to get into them, then during the movement around you will hear such a noise that it will not be possible to remain unnoticed.

14. Immunity to poison

The plot: in the cinema sometimes use the trick, as if a person after the consumption of poison does not die, because before that, he regularly took small doses of poison for many years, which developed immunity in his body.

Reality: a similar effect can only be in movies, and in life a toxin will accumulate in the body, leading to either serious illnesses or even death.

15. Colorful space battles

The plot: entertainment to the battles taking place in space, suffices in full. Huge ships shoot each other with different lasers, bombs and other weapons, and the destroyed ships collapse and fall into the abyss.

Reality: in one such movie scene, several laws of physics are violated at once. For example, if one is guided by Tsiolkovsky's formula, the existence of huge spacecraft can not a priori be impossible, because they could not go up into space because of the need to have a lot of fuel on board. As for the explosions, these are the results of fantasy and computer graphics: explosions in space look like small holy spheres, because there is no oxygen. A downed ship can not fall, because there is no necessary force of gravity, so it would simply continue to fly in the chosen direction. In general, if it were not for writers and directors, the battles in space would look very boring and uninteresting.
