Ankle Bandage

A bandage on the ankle joint is an effective way to restore the integrity of the foot. Wearing a special device ensures reliable fixation of the joint elements, the natural position of the foot, while reducing the load exerted on the damaged ligaments .

The nature of the injury and the severity of the course of the disease determines which orthopedic bandage the expert recommends wearing. All orthopedic bandages on the ankle joint can be divided into two groups:

Soft orthopedic bandages

Elastic bandage on the ankle joint should be worn for injuries of mild and moderate severity. The following types of soft fixatives are distinguished:

  1. Protective or medicinal, similar to a bandage bandage, is usually used with open fractures. The material has a special impregnation, which prevents contamination of the wound and contributes to the rapid regeneration of damaged tissues.
  2. Corrective bandage is used for congenital, rarely acquired, pathologies, for example, with clubfoot.
  3. The immobilizer is most often used in sports medicine to reduce the pain syndrome in trauma.
  4. The pressure bandage exerts moderate mechanical pressure on the damaged area, thus blocking the bleeding that has arisen.

Soft ankle bandages are almost invisible under clothes, they can easily put on shoes (of course, without a heel), and it is easy to choose this device of any size.

Rigid orthopedic bandages

Semi-rigid and rigid retainers are equipped with special frame inserts in order to completely immobilize the damaged joint. For better fixing the product has fasteners (straps, laces, Velcro).

Currently, with moderate to severe injuries, chronic foot pathologies apply a compression bandage to the ankle joint. For the production of the product, a rather dense, air-permeable material is used, which can not be deformed. The device is reinforced with anatomical aluminum tires and lacing system. Due to the fact that inside the bandage is interlaced with a soft cotton cloth, the foot is comfortable in it, and keeping it clean is not difficult.

As the contamination of the fixative is always possible to wash. Hand wash in warm water is desirable, thus the product should not be strongly rubbed and squeezed out. Drying is done by carefully spreading the bandage. It is not recommended to keep it near heaters or in direct sunlight.
