Aquarium heater

To avoid temperature fluctuations in the aquarium and create comfortable conditions for its inhabitants, experienced aquarists recommend buying an aquarium heater. This simple device should be used at any time of year, if fish and plants need a stable temperature regime. It is impossible to do without it also during spawning.

How to use the aquarium heater?

All manufactured devices have a similar design. A small difference concerns the power, which corresponds to the volume of the reservoir. Well-known manufacturers, to facilitate the choice, offer a special scale. If you look at how most modern aquarium heaters are arranged, you can see a tube with a built-in spiral, a cap protecting the model from damage, an indicator and a temperature regulator. Submersible models have suction cups, which allow to install it on the wall.

If the device is designed for operation under water, it can not be used on a dry one - turn it on only when it is in water. Dip it completely together with the cord, or at a certain mark. In the heating mode, the red indicator light comes on, which goes out when the water is at the desired temperature.

There are glass and plastic models of aquarium heaters, with and without the thermostat. Depending on the attachment point, wall, submersible and ground products are distinguished in the form of a thermal cable. In some cases, preference is given to a flow device equipped with a heating element that heats the water passing through it.

To evenly warm the water, it is not recommended to install the aquarium heater at the corners of the reservoir. It is best to attach it to the back wall, lowering it deeper. In large aquariums it is easier to maintain the temperature if one powerful device is replaced by several low-power ones.
