Arsenal Museum

At 7 km from the city Strengnes and about 90 km from Stockholm is the Swedish Tank Museum - the largest exhibition of armored vehicles in Scandinavia. Another name is the Arsenal Museum. It was opened in the presence of King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden on June 17, 2011.

The main exposition of the museum

At the entrance to the main hall, visitors see the very first tank that appeared in the Swedish army. The museum has 75 samples of caterpillar and wheeled military equipment, and in all there are about 380 exhibits. Here you can see tanks and armored cars for the entire period of their existence, starting from 1900 and nowadays; the exposition presents Swedish technology, as well as military machines of other European countries.

A large number of exhibits belong to the II World War and to the period of the Cold War, when the development of military equipment was going on by leaps and bounds. The museum also hosts various temporary exhibitions, for example, motorcycles, Swedish regimental uniforms, etc.

Other expositions

In addition to the exposition of armored and automotive vehicles, the museum has several other permanent exhibitions:

Children's arsenal

The Arsenal Museum in Sweden is very fond of children. This is facilitated by the presence of the so-called "Children's Arsenal" - a game area in which small visitors can sit behind the wheel of a military vehicle or tank, visit a military tent and much more.

Shop and cafe

At the museum there is a shop where you can buy models of tanks and other military equipment, as well as literature, postcards and other souvenirs. There is also a cafe.
