Atopic dermatitis in infants - treatment

Atopic dermatitis (AT) is called inflammatory skin disease, which is accompanied by itching. Most often begins atopic dermatitis in infants, that is, in the first year of life of the baby. Later, there may be periods of remission, the appearance of the rashes, and the place of the external manifestation of inflammation. The disease is characterized by a transition to a permanent lifelong remission.

Nutrition of a child with blood pressure is often hypoallergenic. This is due to the fact that doctors, prescribing to exclude from the diet all possible allergens, try to hedge and accelerate the onset of a positive effect of treatment. Nevertheless, according to European experts, it is impossible to develop a universal diet for atopic dermatitis for those children who suffer from this disease. Restrictions in food should be prescribed only for those children who have established a hypersensitivity to certain foods.

It is very important to choose the right mixture atopic dermatitis. It is important that the mixture does not contain protein cow's milk. It is recommended to use special adapted mixtures based on goat milk. Mixtures based on soy protein may be intolerable to children with AT. It is best to use mixtures based on highly hydrolyzed protein.

Treatment of atopic dermatitis in infants

As already mentioned, contact with a possible allergen should be avoided only when there are good reasons to believe that a particular allergen is the cause of atopic manifestations on the skin. This applies not only to food, but also to contact with domestic animals and other carriers of allergens.

Cream for atopic dermatitis, as a rule, is a local glucocorticosteroid. It has an anti-inflammatory effect, reduces the manifestation of infection of the skin. Often in the first stage of treatment, strong drugs are prescribed, and later the transition is made to the weaker ones.

For the treatment of AT, moisturizing the skin with creams, lotions, ointments is used, antihistamine and immunosuppressive drugs are prescribed. Ultraviolet therapy may be prescribed.
