Still remaining an experimental material, bamboo flooring has already won great love among the devotees of an eco-friendly style in the interior. It has a lot of positive characteristics and is worthy of competition with other types of wooden flooring. Consider the main points regarding the advantages and disadvantages of the bamboo floor.
Bamboo flooring - the pros and cons
In addition to the fact that bamboo parquet is an ecological and hypoallergenic material, it has other undeniable advantages in comparison with classic parquet and laminate , such as:
- high wear resistance and strength, which is half that of the oak floor;
- antistatic, which greatly facilitates the cleaning process;
- a large selection of colors, and besides natural shades, you can choose the coloring of the parquet in any other color;
- refractoriness due to special material processing;
- the ability to create and maintain a good indoor microclimate;
- democratic price, is much lower than that of another wooden coating.
Unfortunately, bamboo parquet, despite all the advantages listed, still has disadvantages in use. And that in the future not to encounter sudden disappointments from using this stylish flooring, it is better to learn about them in advance in order to try to avoid them as much as possible. So, the disadvantages of bamboo flooring:
- risk of damage to the surface with sharp objects (furniture legs, heel-studs, etc.);
- fading when exposed to direct sunlight on parquet boards made of bamboo;
- Features laying, which require mandatory adaptation to the microclimate in the room for at least two days, as well as more complex installation;
- risk of delamination with excessive moisture and permanent mechanical effects.
In addition, since such a coating began to be used only since 1993, official statistics on its longevity are not yet available.
Varieties of bamboo flooring
There are several types of bamboo flooring, depending on the design:
- mosaic parquet;
- piece three-layer parquet;
- horizontal parquet (massive parquet board) made of bamboo.
It must be said that mosaic parquet is used in everyday life rarely, mainly as a decorative design. As for other types, most often in the interior you can find horizontal natural bamboo flooring of white and yellow color, when the split and stacked planks imitate the stems of bamboo.
