Bullous pemphigoid or Lever's disease is a chronic form of skin lesions with the formation of blisters. Most often, the disease occurs in the elderly, age 60 and older, extremely rarely from the disease Levera suffer children. In this case, the pemphigoid is benign, and the clinical picture has much in common with vulgar pemphigus, which to some extent complicates the diagnosis and treatment process.
Symptoms of bullous pemphigoid
Most often the disease affects the skin of the trunk and extremities, extremely rarely the pemphigoid covers the tissues of the head, face and large natural folds. A feature of Lewra's disease are symmetrical eruptions, namely:
- bubbles ;
- vesicles.
They contain a clear liquid, which is restrained by strained tires. It is not uncommon for the skin on which blisters appear to have a healthy color, but more often rashes accompany redness, which is also a sign of the disease. The clinical picture is supplemented by blisters of various sizes, which can erroneously indicate sarcoidosis.
The listed symptoms are primary and they manifest themselves in the first few days, after which the rash and blisters are opened and erosive-ulcerative defects are formed in their place. In the case of bullous pemphigod, ulcers are not covered with crusts, but epithelialized.
It is also important that in one out of five patients the rash primarily affects the oral mucosa and only then appear on the skin.
Treatment of bullous pemphigoid
The peculiarity of treatment of bullous pemphigoid or Lever's disease lies in the fact that it must be complex and individual. Doctors select a treatment regimen based on the following facts:
- severity of the course of the disease;
- prevalence of the process;
- presence of concomitant diseases;
- general condition of the patient.
But in any case, the main means for treating Lever's disease are drugs containing glucocorticosteroids. At the very beginning of treatment, patients prescribe 60-80 mg of the drug in 24 hours. After this, the doctor, taking into account the above data, changes the dose.
Also for the treatment of pemphigoid, immunosuppressants and cytostatics are used. These drugs artificially inhibit immunity, and also remove the tumor. Depending on the severity of the symptoms and the stage of their development, systemic enzymes are prescribed, preparations made from mixtures of plant and animal enzymes that affect the processes of inflammation, reparative processes and immune responses. Thus, the patient's condition is greatly improved.
