The human eye works similarly to a lens. The transmission and refraction of light rays are performed by the lens, which has a high transparency and elasticity, which ensures a clear vision. It is located between the vitreous body and the iris, inside the eyeball.
Opacification of the lens or, as they say in medicine, cataract is characterized by a deterioration in the transparency. Because of this, the transmissivity decreases, and a significantly smaller amount of light rays enter the eye, respectively, partially or completely lost sight.
Causes of opacity of the lens of the eye
There are congenital and acquired cataracts.
The first type of disease occurs in such cases:
- hereditary pathologies;
- infection of the fetus during intrauterine development;
- use of pregnant alcohol, drugs, tobacco products;
- toxic poisoning during the period of gestation;
- hereditary predisposition.
Acquired type of the disease develops for the following reasons:
- eye trauma;
- age-related changes in the body;
- operations on the organs of vision;
- taking certain medicines;
- exposure to strong electromagnetic waves;
- complications of diabetes mellitus;
- arterial hypertension;
- ionizing radiation, excess ultraviolet;
- ophthalmic diseases.
Characteristic symptoms of lens opacity
In addition to the main external signs in the form of a change in the color of the pupil (clarification, the acquisition of a white hue), the following clinical manifestations of cataracts are observed:
- deterioration of photosensitivity;
- double vision in the eyes ;
- fuzzy contours of objects;
- flickering of spots, streaks, dots;
- difficulties in reading, working with small objects;
- vagueness, vision nebula.
Medical treatment of opacity of the lens of the eye
The only effective method of cataract therapy is microsurgical intervention - phacoemulsification. The essence of the operation is to remove the damaged part of the lens and replace it with an intraocular lens.
In the early stages of the progression of the disease or the presence of contraindications to surgical manipulations, conservative treatment with drops is possible:
- Vitafakol;
- Quinax ;
- drops of Smirnov;
- Vitayodourol;
- Oftan-Katachrom.
It is important to note that drug therapy only slows the development of pathology, but does not contribute to its elimination.
Treatment of opacity of the lens of the eye with folk remedies
Nontraditional techniques act identically to eye drops - they help to reduce the rate of cataract progression, but do not cure it. For example, honey is very popular.
Prescription of drops in the eye from cataracts
Ingredients:
- May honey (flower) - 0,5 tsp.
- distilled water - 2 tsp.
Preparation and use
Mix the ingredients until the honey dissolves completely. Bury 1 drop of solution in each eye 2-5 times a day. Gradually increase the concentration of the drug, bringing it to a ratio of 1: 1.
It is worth noting that the prepared drops can be stored no more than 72 hours in the refrigerator.
