Cervical lymphadenitis

The lymphatic system is the first to respond to any infections that enter the body. An increase in the size of the lymph nodes indicates the onset of the disease. Cervical lymphadenitis is manifested due to respiratory diseases (tonsillitis, influenza, angina) or the oral cavity ( gingivitis , caries).

Causes of cervical lymphadenitis

The main factor leading to the development of the disease are viruses and bacteria that cause pathologies such as flu, otitis, tonsillitis. Their action is blocked by lymph nodes. As a result, inflammation occurs, which can be not only acute, but also chronic. Therefore, it is so important to determine the presence of infection in the first stages.

Symptoms of cervical lymphadenitis

The main symptom is severe pain, because of which the patient has to take a forced position. In addition, there is redness of the skin in the area of the affected lymph node, a local increase in temperature. Also, the disease manifests itself as symptoms of general intoxication, which include weakness, deterioration of appetite, fever, fever and chills.

The acute form of cervical nonspecific lymphadenitis is manifested in the occurrence of sudden pain, amplified against the background of a weakened and deteriorating state of the whole organism.

With a non-swollen form, the affected nodes are mobile and, when palpated, cause pain. At the purulent stage, the pain becomes pulsating, the lymph nodes grow together with the surrounding tissues, become denser and lose mobility.

Treatment of cervical lymphadenitis

As a rule, the first stages of the development of the disease are subjected to outpatient treatment, which will be aimed at eliminating the cause that caused the infection. The main place in the therapy is given to antibiotics, the intake of vitamins, which strengthen the immunity of drugs.

To cope with a purulent form is not medically possible, therefore they resort to an operative intervention with disinfection, drainage and elimination of pus. Surgery may also be necessary if the cause of the disease is the activity of atypical bacteria that are not susceptible to drugs.

Also in the treatment is actively used physiotherapy treatment, including ultrasound, electrophoresis and galvanotherapy.

Antibiotics for cervical lymphadenitis are one of the main pledges of recovery. Proper antibiotic therapy plays an important role in the fight against pathology. The choice of this or that drug is carried out proceeding from individual features of an organism. In this case, the initial stages of cervical lymphadenitis should be treated with antibiotics. This allows you to slow the development of the inflammatory process and accelerate recovery. The most effective agents are Flemoxin, Amoxiclav, Ampicillin, Amoxicillin, Ceftriaxone.

The duration of the course of taking medications should be from ten to fourteen days.
