Clothing of ancient Chinese

China - one of the most ancient original civilizations, which emerged in the II-III millennium BC. For a long time the country was isolated from the outside world. Perhaps this is what made it possible to create such a unique culture and traditions. The costumes of the ancient Chinese are very bright. It is worth noting that their wardrobe was quite diverse. After all, China is a big country, and the climate in the north is extremely severe, and in the south heat alternated with cold.

Style of the ancient Chinese

To begin with, it is necessary to pay tribute to the ancient masters, who for two thousand years before our era have learned to make silk and thin fabrics of hemp and cotton.

The principle of sewing both men's and women's suits was the same. Both men and women wore long shirts with a smell and broad trousers . This costume was considered the lower clothing and was called "ishan". Thus, female and male suits were almost identical.

And it was only during the Tang era that Chinese women were able to wear sweaters and skirts that resembled European fashion. The skirts had triangular notches on the hips. Through them was visible a jacket.

The main distinguishing feature of the dress of ancient Chinese for women were luxurious embroideries with colored patterns. Chinese people, as admirers of symbols and signs, even did not leave their costumes without them. So, the flowers of narcissus and plums embroidered on the dress meant the winter, the peony personified the spring, the lotus became the symbol of summer and sun, the chrysanthemum was associated with autumn. All the patterns on the outfits were in circles, which were called "tuan". One of the most delicate creatures, the butterfly, was a symbol of family happiness. A couple of ducks-tangerines symbolized the relationship of the couple in love.

Not only flowers, birds and insects were embroidered on the dresses of ancient Chinese. The embroideries illustrating various scenes and literary works were widespread, and images of young men and girls were popular.

In China, always cherished the appearance. Self-care was considered something obligatory, exalted and refined.
