Cockwater Aquarium

Cockerel is a labyrinthine fish, that is, it breathes air through an organ called a labyrinth. He does not need an aquarium with aeration system, so that its content does not cause special expenses and hassle. And yet, which aquarium is better for choosing a fish for a cockerel? We will answer this question in the article.

Choosing an aquarium for the cockerel

First of all, it must be said that the cockerel is a fighting fish, so keeping two males in one container is undesirable. More or less peacefully, they can only coexist in a large-capacity aquarium. Also, you can not attach fish to the fish with the veil fins - it will certainly break them.

To facilitate the maintenance of these snooty fish, you can consider an aquarium with a septum where each cockerel will have its own separate part.

For a single cockerel, a mini-aquarium is enough. In nature, these fish have adapted to poor conditions, because they do not live in the cleanest and most spacious reservoirs. Artificial air supply, as we have already said, is not at all necessary.

In shape, the aquarium can be anything, and if the usual rectangular seems boring to you, you can equip the cockerel with a round aquarium. Its volume can be only 20 liters - for one inhabitant this will be quite enough. The minimum water for a single fish is 10-12 liters. With a smaller volume, there is a problem with temperature instability and a lack of space for fish comfort.

Decoration of the aquarium for males

If you choose an aquarium with a partition, you can make it yourself from a transparent material - glass or plexiglass. Just do not forget about the holes for water circulation in the entire volume of the aquarium.

From technology to the tank for the cockerel you need a lamp. Aquarium for males should be backlit. There must also be a cover with air intake holes and a filter - the internal low-power is enough.

Since the cockerel is a tropical fish, you need to keep the temperature at 26 ° C. Because you will need a heater - an unregulated low-power heater. Also, be sure to place a thermometer in the aquarium to monitor the temperature.

Of useful trifles, you will need a windshield wiper (it is not needed if the aquarium is round in shape or made of plastic). You can also clean the walls with a regular sponge. You also need a rubber hose to suck the debris from the bottom of the aquarium. To catch fish, you need a net of soft material.

To fill, you need a primer - small pebbles or river sand. It should cover the bottom by 4-7 cm. You can plant plants, choose the most unpretentious ones. If there is a septum in the aquarium, plant the plants along it. If the volume of the aquarium allows, you can decorate it with artificial decorative figures, stones, shells and so on.
