The Russian Constitution is a solid foundation for the democratic development of the state. This is not just a collection of good intentions and preferences, it is really a working lever of direct action. It is important for a citizen of any country to know the Constitution and to honor all the laws prescribed in it honestly. This is an indicator of the civilized life and consciousness of citizens.
The Constitution Day of the Russian Federation is celebrated on December 12. The Constitution was adopted on 12.12.1993 during the referendum, at which the popular vote was held. The full content of the code of laws on 25.12.1993 was published in news papers and since then the Constitution Day in Russia is an important date and one of the most important holidays for the country. The first copy of the Constitution is intertwined in the thinnest thin skin of red color, which depicts the coat of arms of Russia of silvery color and the name "The Constitution of the Russian Federation" finished in gold. The inauguration edition is in the library of the president in the Kremlin.
Amendments to the document
Since the first signing, some amendments have been made to the document, which dealt with the following aspects:
- The term of the election of the president. According to the amendments, the President of the Russian Federation can be elected for a period of six years by the legal citizens of Russia on the basis of the suffrage in voting (earlier the term was 4 years).
- The term of the State Duma election. Can be elected for a term of five years (before the term was 4 years).
- The Government of the Russian Federation is obliged to report annually on the results of its activities to the State Duma.
These amendments were proposed by President Dmitry Medvedev on November 5, 2008 during his speech in the Kremlin. 11.11.2008, the draft amendments were transferred to the State Duma by the president, and until November 21, during three readings, the amendments were approved by the majority of deputies. On December 30, 2008, Medvedev signed all laws on amendments to the Constitution of Russia.
Events dedicated to the Constitution Day of the Russian Federation
For ten years, the December 12 date was considered an official weekend, but on 24.12.2004 amendments were made to the Labor Code, which changed the country's festive calendar. The law regulated the abolition of the day off on December 12, but this did not prevent the celebration of events commemorating this memorable date. The holiday dedicated to the Constitution Day is the embodiment of the triumph of law in the country, with the Constitution itself uniting all people into one people.
This day is widely celebrated in cultural and educational institutions. The following events are held in schools:
- lessons of practical knowledge about human rights and freedoms;
- an exhibition of information material and brochures on the constitution;
- class hours for the following different age groups: the symbols of Russia, the moral and legal consequences of the violation of the law, the basis of labor legislation;
- competitions of posters and drawings called "depicting their rights";
- games, thematic digests and quizzes;
- meetings with veterans of labor.
All the above activities are designed to ensure that a person from the school's bench began to realize himself as a full-fledged citizen of the country and be aware of his rights. This affects the self-awareness of people and the formation of a developed society with stable moral principles.
In addition to activities in schools, mass actions and rallies are held, young people often organize flash mobs. The incumbent president congratulates people from the TV screens and reads messages to the Federal Assembly. Despite the fact that the birthday of the constitution in Russia is a working day, this date becomes an occasion for the concert company and the organization of symbolic celebrations.
