Fashion of the 90s

Style 90-ies of the last century - one of the most interesting pages in the multi-volume history of fashion. Someone perceives him with an indulgent smile, someone - with notes of nostalgia, but his unique, innovative approach to creating an external appearance remains unchallenged. "Be yourself" - this slogan of the advertising company Kelvin Klein very soon went beyond the brand, turning into the quintessence of the style of the whole decade. The unprecedented popularity of scythe, bright elk and "cookies" in the countries of the post-Soviet space and the extravagant luxury of Prado, the growing grunge and world recognition of Yohji Yamomoto's models - seemingly such incompatible tendencies and approaches, but they all somehow managed to fit into a colorful and sometimes an unexpected palette called "Fashion 90-ies."

Fashion 90's in Russia

The modus operandi of the early 1990s in Russia was in fact formed by two factors: the desire for self-expression and the shuttle business. After a very limited assortment of Soviet shops, the desire to radically change the boring gray appearance into something more vivid and individual has become almost a national phenomenon. And thriving on the background of global social and economic changes, small business reacted very sensitively to it. No, the store shelves were still half empty, but the markets became a real Mecca for those wishing to get dressed "in the spirit of the times." And it was not so important, which label depicted on the goods - what "brought", it was fashionable. It came to curiosities: the neon tights on the ladies of impressive size, the elastic skirts, when walking annoyingly trying to turn into a belt, or the notorious crimson jacket dressed over (!) A leather jacket (or else you can not see it!). Although many fashion trends in the style of the 90s have stood the test of time and shine on the modern catwalks: jackets "coho" (though not only classically black, but also pastel or on the contrary - bright colors), leggings modernized with geometric and animalistic prints, denim skirts "A la fashion 90's", and so popular now the style of unisex is also from there. But, back to fashion in the 90's.

Fashion of the 90's - world trends

The world fashion in the 90's was quite clearly expressed social and territorial orientation. Unlike the fashion of the 90's in Russia, the European fashion gave preference to restrained elegance. On the crest of popularity, the fashion of the 90s is worn by the clothes from two Milan firms Prada and Gucci. At first glance, simple (and in fact - created using a virtuoso cut) silhouettes and accentuating attention to them, a black and white color solution turns Italian models into a kind of icon of the style of the decade.

The fashion of America of the 90s is a sporting style from Tommy Hilfiger , which is very popular among African-American youth and, of course, the style of grunge, the ancestor of which was the leader of the group "Nirvana" Kurt Cobain. His deliberately careless manner of dressing, designed to challenge public opinion and being, in fact, an antimode, soon transformed into a fashionable style, popular to this day. Keds and battered jeans, t-shirts are not in size and voluminous knitted sweaters - is not that so easily recognizable modern street style.

The sturdy movement of the "green" made fashionable products made of artificial fur (albeit briefly), and the Italian company Superga released a collection of clothing that protects not only from ultraviolet and acid rains, but also from ... bullets.

That's how it was, the fashion of the 90s of last century: contradictory and, bright, elegant and restrained, practical and pretentious, and, of course, memorable.
