Fish tetra

If you do not want to start large aquarium inhabitants, then pay attention to such fish as tetras. This spawning fish is a maximum of eight centimeters long, with bright and very diverse colors.

The tethers are schooling fish, so it is worth to dig in 7-10 individuals. The aquarium will suit them from 30 liters, with a lot of different plants and a place for free swimming. By the way, the tetris will not be against killing the algae, so you can buy aquatic plants with numerous small leaves. The optimum water temperature for these fish ranges from 21 ° to 26 ° C, the water must be partially changed once a week.

Noteworthy is the fact that the appearance of fish is very sensitive to the state of the environment. That is, if you observe the conditions of the fish, they are very colorful and beautiful, otherwise - all their attractiveness quickly disappears.

In food, these fish are unpretentious, can eat both live and combined dry food.

Tetras are very friendly and easily get along with other small peace-loving fish (for example, with neon or cardinals).

Types of fish tetra

There are several types of fish tetra:

• royal tetra : size 5.5 centimeters, most effectively look at the dark background of the aquarium;
• tetra Colombian : length about 6-7 centimeters, caudal fin red, and abdomen silver;
• bloody tetra : body length 4 centimeters, the color varies from silvery to bright red;
• gold tetra : the fish is not brightly colored, but has a noticeable golden sheen, the length is about 3.5-5 centimeters. They like bright lighting and floating plants, these fishes are very active, constantly in motion;
• fire tetra : the body of these fish is translucent, about 4 centimeters long, from the head to the tail there is a bright red band;
• mirror tetra : length 4 centimeters, the main color is mirror-brown;
• tetra black : known also under the name of Ternesia, fishes of silver color and have a very unusual form of the body in the form of a rhombus, strongly flattened from the sides;
• pink tetra : fishes of pink coloring in the size of 4,5 centimeters, schooling instinct in this version of tetras is weaker than in other species;
• blue tetra : the size of these fish is about 4-5 centimeters, the color is yellowish with a blue tinge, the body is elongated and slightly compressed at the sides.

Reproduction of fishes of tetra

Sexual maturity of the tetra reaches between 6 and 8 months. For breeding, the couple is placed in a spawning aquarium with a volume of not less than forty liters. About 10 days before the proposed spawning, the female must be fed intensively, then reduce the hardness of the water and raise the temperature by 2-3 ° C. Fertilized caviar is in a transparent shell, the defective cavity becomes turbid for 12 hours. Approximately on the fifth day the young will swim, the first feed for it may become an infusoria or artemia.
