Monochorion monoamniosic twins

The birth of twins is a rare occurrence. However, such variants of pregnancy do happen and one of the types of proliferation is a monochorion monoamnotic twins. This term means twins who have a common placenta and a common amniotic cavity without a septum.

Features of management of pregnancy

Monochorion monoamnotic pregnancy is the most rare variant of proliferation and the most dangerous. There are several critical points, for example, the interweaving of umbilical cord in fruit, which can lead to hypoxia of one or both of the fetuses and their further death. The most terrible complication is partial fusion of fruits between each other. Monochorion monoamniosic twins, the dangers of which lead to very serious consequences for toddlers, should be conducted under the strict supervision of a physician who is able to prevent, if possible, the deplorable consequences in such a pregnancy.

In the case when a monochorion monoamnotic twins are determined, the advice of doctors is to regularly go through the necessary examinations, to observe the development of the fetus, in order to reveal complications in the early stages. Also, at later terms of pregnancy, the mother herself can approximately determine the condition of the babies and in time notice, for example, placental insufficiency. This is done by conducting a test for the number of perturbations or a doctor appointed by the CTG.

Childbirth

With such an option as monochorionic monoamnotic twins, birth is no less problematic. Most often, doctors prefer the safest way out of the situation - a caesarean section. However, cases of natural delivery are also possible. Everything depends on the mutual position and viability of both fruits, as well as on the condition of the mother. It is worth noting that with the correct choice of medical tactics and observation, this variant of pregnancy may well end safely and not be accompanied by any complications.
