How and where does the carambola grow?

In general, the birthplace of the carambola fruit is Southeast Asia, presumably the Moluccas. In the wild, this plant is found in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India. Also, carambola is grown culturally in countries such as Vietnam , the USA (Florida), the Philippines, Hawaii, Ghana, Israel, French Polynesia, Guyana, Brazil.

If we talk about what a carambola plant looks like, then first of all it should be indicated that this tree. It belongs to the acid family. It is an evergreen tree with a fairly branched crown up to 5-6 m high. The leaves of the carom are beautiful, dark green, reaching a length of 15-30 cm and are similar to acacia greens. Throughout the year the carambola tree is strewn with pink flowers with a delicate aroma. The fruit itself has the shape of a chicken egg with ribbed sides and can be up to 15 cm in length. Their distinctive feature is five longitudinal ribs, because the carambola in the section looks like a star. The color palette of the exotic fruit varies from light yellow to dark yellow with a wax coating. Inside the fruit are flat seeds up to 1 cm in length.

Carambola: how do you eat this fruit?

You can eat carambola in raw form, as they do in Southeast Asia, eating fruit, as we eat an apple. By the way, the taste of carambola can be characterized as sweet and sour or sweet, depending on the degree of maturity of the fetus. By the way, the fruit resembles to taste something in between an orange, an apple and grapes. It is juicy and illuminating, perfectly quenches thirst. How to grow a carambola?

If these conditions are met, after one or two weeks you will have the first shoots.

While plants grow, it is better to hide them from direct sunlight, however, it is important to monitor sufficient light. Optimal conditions for exotics are considered to be a temperature not lower than 16 degrees in the room. In the cultivation of carambola in the home, it is necessary to carry out abundant watering in the summer. At the same time, the top layer of the soil must dry a little. In winter, watering should be tempered. In addition, carambola needs regular spraying and washing the leaves under the shower. Fertilizing with mineral fertilizers is necessary for seedlings at least three times a year. As necessary, transplant the carambola into larger pots. Take care of the drainage layer on the bottom of the pot.

The carambola will be happy for 3-4 years already.
