Gypsum boards with own hands

Drywall, as a building material, is very tightly integrated into our life. And not at all in vain is it so popular. After all with its help it is possible to construct designs of the most various complexity and updating. The use of plasterboard structures does not end with the leveling of walls and ceilings or the construction of interior partitions. From gypsum cardboard you can make niches or shelves in any convenient place, hide behind it an unaesthetic kind of communication or decorate the doorway. And if you do gypsum cardboard work with your own hands, then you can also save a lot on the services of a specialist in the installation or purchase of furniture.

Gypsum plasterboard arches with their own hands

Before proceeding to the construction of gypsum plasterboard, it is necessary to determine the shape and height of the arch . You can even make a layout of the future design of conventional cardboard in a scale of 1: 1 and make sure the correctness of the decision. And only firmly determined by the choice you need to proceed with the manufacture of the frame from the metal guide profile. To do this, you need a U-shaped profile and metal scissors. The length of the profile that is required for the frame is calculated by summing the height and arc of the arch, and the width of the doorway, only twice as much.

With the help of scissors the profile, designed to create a curved part of the arch, is cut over the entire length to give it the necessary shape.

The profile is fastened by the height and width of the opening with the help of self-tapping screws. And then the curved profile is screwed in the same way.

With the help of the same screws, a drywall of the required shape is attached to the front side of the profile.

In order to bend the plasterboard, from which the bottom of the arch will be made, it is necessary to make cuts on it and break them, leaving only the gypsum part intact.

The workpiece of the bottom can be screwed to the frame and with the help of puttying, align all existing irregularities on the structure.

Plasterboard shelves and niches with own hands

For the production of shelves from plasterboard is used UD-profile. In the right places, it is attached to the wall or an existing box with dowels with screws.

After that, from both sides in the profile are inserted guides and from the side of the wall are screwed with screws.

If the shelf is supposed to be more than 30 cm, then for strength the structure is strengthened by embedded profiles at a distance of 30-40 cm.

Then the top, bottom and sides of the shelf are sewed with sheets of plasterboard.

After this, you can proceed to the putty and decorative trim of the shelf.

In the same way, the structures for the manufacture of niches from plasterboard are mounted. Only in this case the space between the guides is sewn with sheets of gypsum board.

Gypsum board with own hands

In order to hide in a box, for example, a pipe in the bathroom, you will need a CD profile for the construction of the frame and a guide UD profile. In the place where it is supposed to place the box on the walls, it is necessary to make the appropriate marking, and already along it to screw profiles to the wall.

After that, using the jumpers, the outer edges of the box are mounted.

After the frame is ready, prepared sheets of gypsum board, of the necessary dimensions, are attached to it. To give strength to the structure, the screws are screwed at a distance of no more than 15-20 cm.

When the installation of the box is completed, you can proceed directly to the finishing work.

Thus, to make by your own hands any useful construction for a house made of plasterboard does not cause any difficulties. But you can build exactly what you need and without the special costs of money, time and effort.
