How to choose a water meter?

A couple of decades ago, no one thought how to choose apartment water meters. In Soviet times, there were few manufacturers of meters, and the demand for them was small. The fact that a rich country for the use of public services paid a penny, and the installation of meters and speech did not go. So no one knew about the choice of a water meter, because only industrial devices used the devices.

Apartment water meters: how to choose the right one?

Before choosing a water meter, you need to understand their types and classification. Consider the types of counters depending on several characteristics:

• according to the principle of operation, the counters are conditionally divided into mechanical, electromagnetic, ultrasonic, and vortex;
• By the type of power supply, the volatile and non-volatile counter models are divided. The first type is powered by mains. Its design includes a battery designed for power;
• there are meters for cold and hot water. Their differences are in the different materials used to make the impeller and bearing. For cold water (temperature not exceeding 40 ° C) one model is used, and for a hot one (temperature not higher than 150 ° C) another. There are water meters designed to account for both cold and hot water at the same time;
• The last type of classification conditionally divides all devices into household and industrial meters. Household is used directly in the apartment, and industrial plants are installed for enterprises and communal services.

How to choose a water meter: a tachometer

Each tachometer meter has a tachometer in its design. The flow of water directly affects the turbine wheel blades, which causes rotation. This rotation by means of transmission, we see and on the counting device, when we register the amount of water spent per month.

The design features of the tachometric meter are divided into several types of instruments: single-jet, multi-jet, turbine:

1. For single- and multi-jet structures, the impeller blades are used, which are located at right angles to the flow of water. And the design of the turbine type assumes a smaller angle.
2. The design of the multi-jet counter allows you to divide the flow of water into several jets when water gets on the impeller. It is better to choose multi-jet cold water meters, since they are more accurate, but also their cost is higher.
3. There are two more types of construction: "dry" and "wet." Which water meter should I choose? With a "wet" type of construction, the counter is not isolated from the water. At the same time, such devices are quite effective. But for very polluted areas this type is better to apply. The "dry" type of meter does not have such a defect, it does not form deposits. But its cost is much higher because of the high cost of construction details.

What should be the water meter?

So, let's look at a few important points that you should pay attention to before choosing a water meter:

• license. The firm is obliged to provide all necessary documents upon first request. After you have decided on the manufacturer and the installer, specify the important point: the entire responsibility for the installation and the correctness of the work is borne by the firm;
• do not forget to specify such moments as warranty service. A firm that has a license to install or replace a meter does so at its own expense;
• ask if the firm has a service to check and replace the meter, if you need to install a new device.
