How to cut a ceiling skirting board?

At first glance, the installation of a ceiling skirting board seems to be a very simple task. Of course, it is, if you have at least the slightest experience of sticking baguettes . Those who first took up this matter, already at the beginning of the process are asked the question: how correctly to cut corners from the ceiling skirting?

Modern devices for cutting the skirting boards are obtained mainly when the surface of the walls is flat, without bumps, and the angle of the joint between the ceiling and the wall is 90 °. But how correctly to cut a ceiling skirting board in order to form an even angle, if the surface is far from ideal? Many masters have come up with their little tricks how to cope with such a task. Some experienced specialists use a simple board with a corner marking of 450 to cut the ceiling curb and cut it with a simple clerical knife or metal hacksaw, while others use special tools that more easily allow you to cut the skirting boards before gluing.

In our master class, we show you how to cut off the ceiling skirting properly to get a beautiful and even angle. Many pioneers take a lot of time and energy to do this, but in the end the result is pleasantly pleasing.

And so, in order to cut a corner from the ceiling skirting we will need:

How to properly cut the ceiling skirting to get a flat angle?

  1. Armed with tools, we first measure all the corners along the perimeter of the ceiling. If they are equal to 900 or the value fluctuates in these side-altars, then you can safely get down to work.
  2. Apply first one baguette to the corner between the wall and the ceiling, to determine exactly how we will glue the plinth? In pencil we make notes on the walls and on the baguette itself to get the points by which we will cut the baguette. The same thing we do with the second baguette.
  3. Now we turn to the solution of the problem, how to cut off the ceiling skirting by an angle. We take wort - this is a special device designed for cutting baguettes, with several slots, each of which is located at a certain angle. We put in the wort the first plinth, which will be located to the left of the corner. We take a clerical or an assembly knife and begin to cut the baguette by translational movements, focusing on the right mark at an angle of 450, forming a left-sided corner.
  4. Since cutting the ceiling skirting is better, immediately fitting all the pieces, put the second piece in the wort, and cut the baguette with forward movements, focusing on the left mark 450 forming the right-hand corner.
  5. Now take two pieces of ceiling baguette, apply them to each other in the place where the angle is formed and see if everything is evenly docked /
  6. Of course, if the surface of the ceiling or wall is uneven, such an approach to the problem of how to cut off the ceiling skirting in order to obtain an even angle will be inappropriate. Cracks can form, the ends can not lie flat to each other. And this is a fairly common phenomenon. To solve the problem, you can take a clerical knife and gradually, applying pieces of plinth, to each other, cut off those pieces of plinth that prevent them from snugly fitting. This takes a lot of time, but in this case there is no other way out.
  7. Now that we are all exactly and exactly docked, we can proceed with the gluing and painting of the ceiling skirting boards. It is necessary to take into account the fact that you often have to cut the baseboard, so when you calculate the number of panels of baguettes, remember that you have to cut them.
