How to sew bed linens?

Very often we can not choose a good bedding suitable for our family by all criteria. That blanket is not the size, then pillow cases and other similar problems. Sewing underwear in the salons is quite expensive. Therefore, if you have a sewing machine, we suggest that you save and sew everything yourself. Only before we offer to read our article, in which we will tell you how to properly sew a set of bed linen with your own hands.

Instructions for work on sewing

In the fabric stores, the choice of good bedding materials is simply enormous. From you only it is required to correctly remove the measurements from your bedding and on this data to calculate the piece of fabric that you need. Take into account one thing: after washing, as a rule, the fabric sits in length, so this figure should be taken into account with a small margin. Do not worry about the width of the product.

Duvet Cover

When the fabric is purchased, the threads are selected, we proceed to the creation. We begin all with a blanket cover.

1. We measure the blanket and add to the resulting figures on each side a few centimeters for the allowances. Some make the upper and lower half of the duvet cover separate, and some calculate the fabric so that one of the sides is in place of the fold, thus relieving itself of unnecessary lines. Choose you.
2. When the sewing method was determined, the fabric was cut out - you can start sewing the whole quilt cover. And keep in mind that it is easiest to start sewing from the side in which you will pass the blanket (the same is with pillow cases). We lay the fabric by the wrong side up and double bend so that the tissue cut is inside, after that we put out everything, not forgetting the notches.
3. Now you can overlap the remaining sides and stitch them on the typewriter.
4. We pass to the double bed suture, which must be treated by all sides, except the one with which we started:
   • the front side of the fabric is laid face to you and, having retreated from the edge several millimeters, we perform the seam;
   • we turn inside out, we retreat from the edge 1 cm and we spread the line along the entire length.

It turned out good, and most importantly, a strong double bed suture, which completes the assembly of our duvet cover.

Sheets

A sheet is the easiest attribute of bed linen. To sew a sheet, just measure your mattress, adding on the sides a cloth of the length you need. If there is a desire, then you can spend a little more time and sew a sheet with an elastic underneath, which will firmly sit on the mattress.

Pillowcase

In order not to bother with lightning and buttons, which periodically have to be brought into working condition, we suggest you to make a pillowcase without fasteners, which will fit tightly the pillow and at the same time it will not require extra time for its creation.

1. Since the fabric for the pillowcase is used usually residual, so that after washing the form does not change, it is best to soak the cloth in hot water and let it cool in the same water.
2. When the water cools, let the cloth dry and proceed to a pattern, which we will do right on it. To do this, add 2 cm to the dimensions of the pillow to the allowances, plus 25 cm to the pocket, which will hold the pillowcase on the pillow.
3. Now we will open the seams and sew them, bending the fabric twice.
4. We fold the fabric, forming a pillowcase, not forgetting about that piece that will be a "pocket".
5. We will use already checked double seam and process the edges from the front side, retreating 2 mm, then with the purl one, we step back 1 cm from the edge.

Everything, a pillowcase for your pillow is ready, it remains only to wash and refill the new kit.
