How to sew bolero?

Bolero - an excellent addition to both the everyday and the elegant image. Even a wedding dress with a deep neckline will look more elegant if you put on this shoulders the original product. Bolero can be sewn with your own hands as from guipure, lace, satin, and fur. You can not call this process false, since the pattern for making bolero with your own hands consists of only six elements: two backs, two shelves and two sleeves.

Before you can quickly sew the original bolero, you need to make several measurements. First, determine the desired length of the product on the back. Secondly, measure the chest girth. And, thirdly, measure the length of the sleeve.

Based on these measurements, build a pattern.

Products made from fabric and lace are sewn somewhat easier than from fur, since there is no need to dock the picture or texture. In our master class we will talk about how to sew bolero from artificial fur, that is, we will describe the most difficult variant. So, we sew bolero with our own hands!

We will need:

  1. Transfer the paper pattern taking into account the allowances on the wrong side of the fur cut. Make sure that the direction of the pile is the same on all the details - from top to bottom. Each detail is outlined separately, do not try to save time. It is very important to keep the symmetry
  2. Cut out the details, and then try to cut off all the villi along the edges of the cut. This is necessary in order to gently sew the details. Mark the marker with the exact line along which the parts will be stitched.
  3. Proceed to stitching the parts. First, connect the two parts of the backrest, then sew the left and right shelves to it. After this, cut off the pile on the seams from the wrong side to reduce their thickness.
  4. Turn out the bolero on the front side and gently pull out with a needle or a blade of pile scissors, which turned out to be under the seams. As a result, you should get an inconspicuous transition between the details. It remains for the same pattern to sew the lining, sew it to the bolero, sew up the string, and the luxurious fur cape is ready!

Similarly, you can sew bolero from the fabric. It is even easier to work with it, since there is no need to process the seams and to join the drawings. So, make a pattern, transfer it to the fabric, cut out the details.

Then we sew the parts, sew the lining, process the seams. Bolero is ready!
