Skin disease of vitiligo: causes, symptoms, types

To date, the immediate cause of the appearance of vitiligo is not established. Doctors associate this with psychological or physical stress. Sometimes the cause of the disease is hormonal disorders, infectious or autoimmune diseases. It happens that the disease occurs because of the accumulation of chemicals in the body. Before considering the methods of treatment of vitiligo, we will analyze the symptoms of the disease and its types.

Patients note that before the appearance of the first spot, the skin itches a little. For the body as a whole, vitiligo does not carry any danger, it's only external white spots. Clearly delineated areas of the skin at first just a little lightened, and soon merge with each other and become milky white. The affected skin does not change its qualities at all: it feels perfectly smooth to the touch. Most spots appear on the hands, face, elbows or knees. The disease has a tendency to progress, but the speed is completely individual for each person.

Spots can cover only a couple of areas or be located on one half of the body. This form is called localized. There are two more forms of manifestation of the disease: generalized and universal (almost 80% of the human body is covered with spots).

Vitiligo has several color spots. Affected areas can be trichromatic with a transitional zone of skin from healthy to discolored. It happens that the line on the spot has inflammation. Sometimes the spots get a blue tint.
