Typology of character

Every person is accustomed to living by their principles, views, reacting differently to things, events, to talk, work, etc. It is in these things that the so-called character is manifested - the signs that a person has acquired in society.

A single psychological typology of characters, as such, does not exist. However, such scientists as A.E. Lichko, K. Krechmer, E. Fromm, K. Leonhard still compiled some types of combination of individual personality traits. One of them, we will consider in our article.

Typology of human characters in psychology

Since the beginning of the existence of psychology, attempts to deduce a number of types of characters of people have been made by many, relying on the same list of ideas for its creation.

  1. The character begins its formation very early, in the ontogenesis of the child, and manifests itself throughout life.
  2. The combination of personal traits in the character of a man has developed not just so, and form types giving the ground for constructing the main typologies of character.
  3. Most individuals of the same typology can still be divided into groups.

According to the theory of K. Leonard, in communication with a person, many of his personal qualities open up that affect the health of the psyche, adaptation and development. We will consider one of the main typologies of the character of a person in psychology and the features inherent in each type according to this theory.

  1. Hypertensive type - initiative, optimism, frivolity, irritability, craving for immoral acts, frivolity.
  2. Excited type - increased emotionality, quick temper, lust for power, accuracy and conscientiousness.
  3. Dysthymic type - conscientiousness and justice, passivity, sluggishness, individualism.
  4. Cycloid type - changeability of mood, seclusion or sociability.
  5. The jamming type is initiative, taciturn, ambition, vindictiveness.
  6. Pedantic type - benevolence, conscientiousness, seriousness, reliability, zanudlivost.
  7. Anxious type - self-criticism, friendliness, diligence.
  8. Momotivny type - kindness, compassion, diligence, sensitivity.
  9. Demonstrative type - selfishness , hypocrisy, artistry, courtesy.
  10. Exalted type - alarmism, friendliness, affection for close people.
  11. Extraverted type - frivolity, susceptibility to influence, diligence.
  12. Introverted type - stubbornness, restraint, adherence to principles.
