To date, the market for building materials offers many ways to finish the ceiling surfaces. And one of them is a suspended ceiling made of plastic panels. This method is very popular in the design of ceilings of any premises, both at home and at the dacha. And the reason for this is the presence of plastic panels such advantages as:
- moisture resistance;
- availability;
- simplicity of care;
- a variety of options for shades and panel structures;
- the ability to hide the existing defects in the ceiling or communication;
- no need for additional finishing;
- the possibility of installing spotlights.
In addition, finishing the ceilings with PVC panels does not require special skills and tools.
Ceiling from plastic panels with your own hands
The process of installing a plastic ceiling can be divided into two stages:
- the structure of the frame;
- plating with plastic.
At the same time, in order to independently make a ceiling made of plastic panels , it is sufficient to adhere to a certain sequence of work and take into account certain features of the installation.
At the first stage it is necessary to determine the choice of the material for the frame. The most popular material for the crate is wood. But when choosing a wooden frame, one should take into account the possibility of its deformation under the influence of moisture. Therefore, when installing a plastic ceiling in the bathroom, toilet, kitchen, on the balcony or veranda, the best solution will be a metal profile. For the device of a metal skeleton directing UD and bearing SD profiles for gypsum cardboard are required. The guides are fixed horizontally along the perimeter of the entire room. And in order for the ceiling to be flat with respect to the horizon, the guide profile is set using a level. In small rooms, you can use a long lumbar level, and for more impressive areas - laser or hydraulic. Fastening of a profile to a wall is made by means of dowels or self-tapping screws at a distance of no more than 60 cm.
After installing the guides, you can lay the bearing profiles in them. At this point in the installation, the direction of the further laying of the panels should be clearly defined. To ensure that the seams between the strips are less visible, they need to be laid perpendicular to the wall with the window. Therefore, the supporting profiles must be mounted parallel to this wall.
The laying of the carrier profile is carried out over the entire width of the wall at a distance of 50-70 cm and fastened to the guide profile with the help of small self-tapping screws.
And to make the frame stiffness, the supporting profiles must be fixed to the base ceiling. This can be done with U-shaped hangers.
How to mount panels on the ceiling?
After the frame is completely mounted, you can start installing panels. The basis for their fastening is the starting strip, which is mounted under the guiding profile along the entire perimeter of the room, except for the side opposite to the beginning.
Then, the plastic panels should be cut according to the width of the ceiling, and inserted into the starting strip. When the panel is inserted, it must be attached to the supporting profiles with small screws.
Similarly, all panels except the last band are mounted. It must be glued with silicone, previously cutting off the back side with a knife.
Thus, the independent installation of plastic panels on the ceiling is not an unrealizable process. The main thing is to follow the sequence of work and before starting the assembly do not forget about the need to install all communications.
