The forerunner of the International Ballet Day was the International Dance Day, which since 1982 was approved by UNESCO and is celebrated on April 29, the day the French choreographer Zh.Z. Noverre is the "father of modern ballet". He was a reformer of ballet art and did a lot for dance art.
The holiday is devoted to all directions of dance, as according to the plan of its founders this day is called to unite all styles of dances as a uniform form of art.
