World Statistics Day

The long-existing expression "Accuracy - the politeness of kings" is very useful, refers to the work of modern extras. Statistics as a science are pretty stubborn, but you can not argue with it, and in making decisions of national importance, this "whimsical lady" plays a decisive role.

To show how important it is in our century to receive clear and correct data about everything and everyone, the UN members decided to organize a special holiday dedicated to representatives of one of the most accurate sciences of our time-the World Day of Statistics. Indeed, today the demand for reliable and verified information about the activities of various state and social spheres is very high. About what for and when will be celebrated the World Statistics Day, and what it really is, you will learn in our article.

History of World Statistics Day

Despite the fact that the first stone in the construction of the world statistical organization was laid more than half a century ago, celebrating this holiday began only in 2010.

It was the Statistical Organization, established by the United Nations in 1947, that was of tremendous importance in the formation of key standards and principles for maintaining statistics. The same methods of collecting comparable data at the international level and today are successfully applied to maintain and improve reporting in almost every country and region.

The idea of creating the World Statistics Day arose in 2008. It was then that many regional statistical organizations of countries included in the UN received a request, through which it was possible to determine the degree of need for approval of such an important holiday.

Since the majority of the polled countries sent positive comments to this account, in 2010 the Statistical Commission put forward an official proposal to establish World Statistics Day in recognition of the appreciation of the work of all employees in this field. The main goal of such an event was the desire to show how important the world is in the timely and accurate preparation of data, through which it is possible to more accurately navigate the level of development of modern progress. On June 3 of the same year, the UN government signed a resolution stating that the World Statistics Day should be celebrated on November 20.

The main task of the holiday is to draw the public's attention to the work of extras. After all, thanks to the qualitative collection, processing and dissemination of information received, society has the opportunity to navigate in different areas of life and to make the most optimal decisions for their own development.

World Statistics Day is also called upon to draw attention to the importance of this tool in building economic and political interethnic relations. Based on statistical reports, it is possible to judge the possibility of obtaining education, treatment, the standard of living of the population, the spread of epidemics in the country and in the world as a whole and much more. Thanks to the tireless work of extras, we have an idea of all the existing forces that affect the life of society, from simple products and ending with social programs.

Today, a population census can often be observed in cities and villages, thanks to which the authorities manage to optimally plan the creation of schools, kindergartens , hospitals and other public institutions in settlements, as well as road junctions, transport, etc.

Annually, in 80 countries around the world, various events are held in honor of World Statistics Day. Various seminars, meetings, meetings devoted to the activity of statistical centers show how important the accountability is for the development and life of all mankind.
