From the history of the island
The Island of Flowers in Montenegro got its name because of the abundance of flowering Mediterranean plants on it. Discussions continue on how to correctly call this place - an island or a peninsula, because it is separated from the land by a narrow strip of land with a width of only 5 m, and during tides water hides this site. The second name of the island - Miolska Prevlaka - arose due to the monastery of the Archangel Michael, dating back to the VI.
With the socialist past of Yugoslavia, Flowers Island links the memory of the closed military base located at that time. From her to our days, there was a checkpoint at the main entrance. Despite the fact that during the war Bosnian refugees cut down most of the trees in these parts, the uniqueness of the nature and landscape of Prevlaka is beyond doubt. Today the Island of Flowers is one of the most ecologically clean places in the vicinity of Tivat.
