Naked dogs

Probably, none of the varieties of dogs is covered with such a huge number of legends and myths, like naked dogs, whose appearance always causes surprise in the surrounding and sometimes even fear. About their origin, scientists know not so much, which is another reason for intrigue in the world of dog handlers. Naked dogs were known to people who lived on different continents. Only isolated from the rest of the world, Australia and countries with a very hot climate have been left out.

History of origin

Until now, the following remains a mystery to the history: whether there were breeds of naked dogs in different countries because of the same mutations or they are distant relatives. Probably, in prehistoric times these dogs had an intercontinental journey. For example, to America from Asia, or vice versa. However, this fact is practically impossible to establish.

The first dogs, which had virtually no hair, appeared, according to the researchers, in Africa in the Gorky area of the Big Lake. They could lose their wool because of the high temperatures inherent in these territories. Heat and heat could lead to a complete lack of hair (in rare cases, there was a small bristle on the head, fingers and the tip of the tail), the location of sweat glands on the entire surface of the skin, because only the bare dogs during the heat to cool do not stick out their tongue. Sometimes these animals have no teeth at all or they do not change from dairy to indigenous. More often it concerns premolars. The absence of hair is the dominant feature.

Today, bare dogs that have survived many centuries, are found around the world in many subtropical regions. They can be found in China, Mexico, Turkey, Ethiopia, Peru, Argentina, Paraguay, the Philippines and the Caribbean.

Breeds of naked dogs

Currently, the International Cynological Federation has officially recognized several breeds, whose representatives are completely or almost completely devoid of wool cover. They are Chinese crested, Peruvian, American naked dogs, as well as a Mexican naked dog with its varieties - mini and puff. In addition, there are several bare breeds that have not yet been recognized by the ICF: the naked dog of the Incas, the Antilles and Abyssinian bare dogs, the Argentinean saw, the Turkish Greyhound, the Indian rampur and the elephant African dog. Of course, all of them can be attributed to rare breeds of dogs .
