Flat roofs on the domestic open spaces of private sectors are rare, while in a number of countries, especially Mediterranean, are popular, having many advantages over other types of roofs.
And one of the advantages can be called the possibility of arranging a recreation area here, which is especially important in the presence of a small infield area. Another advantage is the saving of materials and equipment, since the lack of slope requires fewer roofing materials and less labor and time costs for the construction.
Of course, such a roof also has drawbacks, such as accumulation of water and snow, so that additional waterproofing is necessary to prevent leaks.
Types of flat roof in a single-story house
Modern designs of single-story frame houses or houses from a bar with a flat roof can assume several different designs:
- exploited roofs - suggest frequent finding of people on the roof or installation of heavy objects on it, which requires a rigid base and thermal insulation that will withstand such loads;
- Unexploited , respectively, do not assume heavy loads, so a hard base can be replaced by wooden lags and crates;
- inversion - when the layer of insulation is located below the waterproofing layer, which provides its additional protection against moisture and ultraviolet, such roofs are often used as operated, planting lawns here and breaking flower gardens.
Features of the device of flat roofs
Most often, the so-called sloping roof still has a slight slope (up to 5%), which ensures the descent of water. Flat roofing is a multi-layered structure, and when laying layers, not only the quality of materials, but also strict observance of time intervals between work with them is of great importance.
When the roof has a complex geometry, it is easier to use liquid polymers that, when frozen, do not leave any stitches. In many ways the sequence of laying the layers depends on whether the roof will be exploited or not. Also on this depends on the type of finish coat.
