Peruvian guinea pig is a funny fluffy mammal. She has large expressive eyes, a long silky coat, large drooping ears. This is a calm and obedient animal.

Types of guinea pigs

Care of the Peruvian guinea pig

To an animal to live comfortably in your home, you need to follow simple rules:

  1. Get a cage size 70h80h40 cm and put toys in it.
  2. Peruvian guinea pig, although a calm animal, but very fond of active movements.
  3. Pigs like to hide, so, letting your pet run around the house, do not forget to follow him.
  4. It is necessary to care for the hair - comb, wash with special shampoos, blow dry.
  5. In time, remove traps on the legs, clean the ears and wash the eyes.
  6. Do not forget about the proper nutrition of guinea pigs. Feed them at least 3 times a day at a rate of 80 grams of food per day for 1 kg of weight. The diet of guinea pigs should include foods rich in vitamin C (about 20 mg per day). This is grass or hay, fresh vegetables and fruits (cabbage, carrots, apples, melons). You can give dry food (not more than 2 times a day). This can be a special feed or cereal (oats, corn, wheat, barley). You can not feed them with potatoes, onions, peas, beans.
  7. The cage should always have hay. This is useful not only for the digestion of the Peruvian guinea pig, but also for its teeth. Hay must be properly selected - to be greenish, with a pleasant smell, dry and clean.
