Rashes on the elbows

A rash on the elbows can be a reaction of the body to various external or internal factors. This phenomenon is not common, and many do not immediately pay attention to this symptom, especially if the rash is localized at the elbow bend, not from the inside, but from the outside. Causes of rashes on the elbows

Common diseases associated with this symptom are:

  1. Psoriasis. In this case, the rash is itchy and flaky, has the appearance of rounded pinkish plaques covered with silvery scales. It is located on the outside of the elbow, hitting both limbs at the same time.
  2. Eczema. When eczema rash is a small pink or red bubbles, which eventually burst, causing peeling, the formation of cracks. When combing, the bubbles can cause wetting, bleeding. In many cases with eczema the rash on the elbows itches, and the skin on the affected areas swells.
  3. Atopic dermatitis. Most often the rash with atopic dermatitis affects the inner surface of the elbows, has the appearance of small numerous red spots, accompanied by itching and dry skin.
  4. The granuloma is annular. A red rash on the back of the elbows may indicate this disease. Initially, the rash is a smooth dense papules, and after a while (often several months) it is transformed into permanently large plaques.
  5. Mycosis. A flaky rash, accompanied by itching, the appearance of crusts, nodules, scales and calluses, is typical for fungal attack.
  6. Red flat lichen. With this disease, a multi-morphic rash appears, consisting of flat nodules of a reddish or purple hue with a retracted central part and a smooth surface. Often there is itching.
