Reproduction of grapes by layers

One of the most frequently used methods of propagation of grapes, in addition to propagation , is the multiplication by layers. First of all, this method is used to replenish the vineyard or fill the available places in it. The essence of the grapes is to prikopke escape, not cut off from the maternal vine. Thanks to the cultivation of grapes by layers, it is possible to obtain annual saplings with a developed root system, and, therefore, to ensure the rapid onset of the time of fruiting of the vine. For gardeners who want to grow this berry culture, it will be useful to learn how to grow the grapes technically with layers.

Reproduction of grapes by green layers

Green lapping is carried out in the summer. Choose a healthy bush with a good stable yield, growing near the site of the planned planting of a new bush, it selects 1 to 2 green shoots located close to the surface of the earth. It is possible to use and sprout shoot from the underground stem. From the selected shoots, the leaves are cut off. A shallow groove (0.5 m deep) is laid in the ground from the mother's bush to a new planting site, on the bottom of which is laid compost or reparted manure. The escape fits into the groove, pins, and the tip of the shoot with a few leaves is displayed on the surface and tied to the rod-support. The groove is filled with earth, which must be strongly compacted - trampled. At the end, pinch the growth point on the top of the shoot (later a young bush will be formed from the formed stepsons), and water is abundantly poured.

Reproduction of grapes by air layers

It is believed that the proliferation of airlocks is the oldest method of obtaining seedlings. Using this breeding option, a well-developed seedling can be obtained within a year. Reproduction by air grapes is recommended to be carried out in the spring, when there is intense sap flow. In the vine, a well-developed young branch is selected, located horizontally (or given a horizontal position). It defines the rooting site 7 - 8 cm long. The branch is tightened by a copper wire with a diameter of 1 mm, and are made longitudinal sections of the cortex up to 1 cm long. A vessel with a nutrient mixture, made of a transparent plastic bottle with a capacity of 1.5 liters, is hung on the branch at the rooting site. As a nutrient solution you can use a universal primer, sold in stores. The soil should be constantly wet and cover the branch in a container by 2 cm. In hot weather, it is necessary to cover the branch from direct sunlight. After the formation of a sufficient volume of roots in the vessel, the brood, along with the vessel, is separated from the mother's bush. Seedling is planted in the ground together with a lump of nutrient mixture, which should be carefully separated from the walls of the container.
