Peeling is widely used to smooth out the skin's relief, eliminate its small defects and dead cells. Among these procedures, salicylic acid peeling is particularly in demand. It belongs to the category of chemical surface-medial peelings. Let us consider in more detail the properties of this substance and the effect it exerts on the skin.
Salicylic acid for the face
As is known, salicylic acid, or 2-hydroxybenzoic acid, has an anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect. Therefore, this compound is often used to care for the problem skin and prone to rashes. Facial peeling with salicylic acid has several advantages over other types of similar procedures:
- Do not irritate the top layer of the skin;
- does not cause redness and subsequent peeling;
- smooths the complexion;
- normalizes the production of sebum;

Salicylic acid for the face skin shows the most gentle effect among chemical peelings, but it has no less pronounced effect.
Salicylic acid from black dots
Open comedones or black dots are formed due to the thickening of sebum in the ducts. Over time, the tip of the cork darkens due to the chemical reactions of interaction with the surrounding air and hygienic (cosmetic) means. It is quite difficult to remove such defects, since they alone go out too long and look unaesthetic. Mechanical cleaning is also not a universal solution to the problem, especially with sensitive skin and the presence of a vascular network.
Peeling with salicylic acid copes well with the removal of closed comedones during the full course of procedures. Salicylic acid from ingrown hairs
Any woman is familiar with the problem of ingrown hairs after hair removal or depilation. In such cases, it is usually advised to use a scrub or a hard washcloth, but these remedies are sometimes too aggressive for the skin. Especially, ingrown hair brings painful sensations, which are intensified by mechanical irritation of the inflammation.
In this case, a more gentle means is chemical peeling with salicylic acid. The substance gradually dissolves the upper layer of the skin and allows you to gently and practically painlessly get the ingrown hair with tweezers. Another plus is the antimicrobial effect of the procedure, which will not allow the onset of inflammation of the hair
Salicylic acid from pigment spots and post acne
Another amazing property of the peeling in question is its depigmenting effect. Salicylic acid not only helps to remove the upper damaged layers of the skin, but also significantly brightens the areas with hyperpigmentation. As practice shows, the result becomes noticeable after the third procedure with 15% salicylic peeling. Increasing the concentration to 30%, of course, will accelerate the effect, but can cause slight irritation and redness (flushing). These unpleasant side effects take place within 2-3 days.
