Seeding of tomato seeds on sprouts in a greenhouse

Tomatoes like to grow on their sites, many gardeners. Some buy ready-made seedlings, others prefer to grow them from seeds themselves. In this case, growing tomato seedlings in the greenhouse at times improves its quality. It turns out strong and hardened.

When to sow tomatoes in a greenhouse?

If the greenhouse is unheated, you can plant seedlings in it only after warming up the soil, while on the plants there should already be 5-7 of these leaves and the root system should already be well developed.

In the middle or end of May, even in the middle band, you can safely plant tomatoes in a greenhouse. Preferably do this in the afternoon, even closer to the evening and with cloudy weather. Then the seedlings are better and faster to take root.

Sowing tomatoes in a greenhouse for seedlings

In the southern regions, it is allowed to sow the seeds of the tomato on the seedlings immediately into the greenhouse . To do this, you need to prepare the soil in advance and arrange a heating system. This can be done with the help of manure or electricity. In the first case, horse dung is laid out on the bottom of the trench under the greenhouse, poured with river sand, and then a layer of fertile soil is superimposed. In the process of decay, manure releases heat, which heats the hotbed.

Sowing tomato with dry seeds in a greenhouse in the spring is made after they are tested for quality and disinfection. The distance between the rows in the greenhouse should be 15-20 cm, and the grooves themselves should be made 3-5 cm deep. Do not forget to sign the varieties of tomatoes by putting the flags on the end of each row.

Pour grooves before laying seeds, the seeds must be dry, as they have more chances of survival in case of sudden cooling. Spread the seeds 1-2 cm apart.

The covering of the greenhouse should be dense with the use of a thick film that does not release heat, but at the same time it passes the sun's rays well. Do not remove the film before the first shoots appear.

Care of seedlings of tomatoes in a greenhouse

When the first real leaflets appear on the seedlings, its it is necessary to thin, leaving a distance of 2 cm between plants. Repeated thinning is carried out after another 3-4 weeks. We need to remove weak and poorly developed plants.

After each thinning, the greenhouse is well moistened to destroy the formed air plugs, which can have a bad effect on the development of the remaining seedlings.

Also after the second thinning in the greenhouse it is necessary to fill the earth in the inter-row spaces so that the measles system of tomatoes develops better. Necessarily need to feed the seedlings every 2-3 weeks after emergence. You can use the finished biofertilizer, diluting it in water and sprinkling seedlings.
