Patissons - planting and care

Patisson is an annual herbaceous plant. Agrotechnics it is close to the usual zucchini, but the patisson is more thermophilic.

Patissons: Planting, Growing and Care

When to sow the patissons?

Patisson can be planted through seedlings. Seeds are sown from 10 to 25 April. They are able to germinate at an ambient temperature of 14-15 degrees. For one season, you can sow several times. In this case, it is necessary to observe the interval between crops at least 5-6 days. Then you have almost all summer there will always be fresh patissons on the table.

To stimulate the early germination of seeds, they can be soaked in a solution of boric acid (for one liter of water, 20 mg of powder). Then they are placed in gauze pouches and kept at room temperature for a day. After this, the seeds should be thoroughly rinsed under running water and dried. As a result of such seed preparation, the patisson will grow more actively and yield 20% more fruits.

A month later the seedlings are ready for planting in the open ground. Planting of the patissons is usually carried out on May 15-20, planting seedlings with the existing clod of earth, digging up to the cotyledonous leaves.

How to plant patissons?

Patissons like light, open, well-warmed and ventilated earth.

For the planting of squash, it is better to prepare the ground from autumn. Organic fertilizers (phosphorus, potassium) are introduced into it, dig through, trying not to break the clods of the earth. In the spring, as soon as the snow comes down, the soil will dry out a little, you need to break up clods. Further rake need to level the surface of the earth. Further, mineral fertilizers (ammonium nitrate) are introduced. Sour soil must be limed.

About a week before the proposed planting, the soil should be dug up.

After preparing the soil, it is poured with running water, the temperature of which is 40 degrees. On one square meter of the area you need five liters of water. Then the beds are covered with a film.

After 4 days, the film is removed and proceeded directly to the sowing.

In the middle of the beds make holes 3-4 cm deep. The distance between the holes must be at least 90 cm.

Before planting in the holes seedlings in each hole add a small handful of wood ash and humus. Then two seeds are put in one hole and buried with earth. If both grow, then one plant can then be transplanted.

After the seeds are sown on the beds, metal arcs are placed and polyethylene film is laid on top of them, thus providing the patissons with greenhouse conditions. If after the planting of seeds in the open ground came a sharp cooling, then the top seedlings can be covered with one more film to save it from death.

How to grow squash?

Growing patissons in the form of a bush, which can have white or yellow fruits, depending on the variety.

The plant is very demanding to the soil and needs constant fertilizing with fertilizers. If they are not enough, then the patissons will grow poorly, and their yield will decrease. The fruit itself will grow small and rude.

Harvest starts to be harvested as soon as the fruits reach a size of 7-12 cm. If you leave the squash to grow further, their development may be delayed, and the taste will be lost. Ready fruit can be stored for a long time - up to four months. However, the taste of them will already be different.

Care for the patissons is as follows:

If all the conditions of growing and caring for the patissons are met, you will be able to harvest throughout the summer and until the first frost, as the patissons are cold-resistant plants.
